I would talk to the manager. The coupon clearly states that the body wash is free. The coupon does not state that the lowest priced item is free. P&G is fully aware of the cost of cleansers and body washers. If they intended to limit the coupon to the price of the cleanser they would have done so.

There is no reason that CVS should require you to pay for an item that the manufacturer intended to give you for free. CVS is reimbursed up to $8.99 for the coupon. There is no reason for them to credit you less than the price of the body wash.

Agree with pp that you should talk to the manager. If you have another coupon, show it to the manager to prove your case.

Our cashier tried to pull the same. I stopped him and said the coupon is specifically for the bodywash. Then I placed the items on the counter (as teaching aids), and explained "buy cleanser, get bodywash"

The "up to $8.99" statement on the coupon should also support your case - no cleanser ever costs $8.99, good luck
