Hi all,

This is only my second post so please be gentle with the comments. I know that the general opinion of Disney Movie Club is negative on this site, but I have tried this deal myself and thought that it is pretty slick.
  1. Go to disneymovieclub.com
  2. Click on link to enter promotion code on upper right. Enter 17674D.
  3. Offer should change to 5 DVDs or Blu-rays for $1.
  4. Check membership details on the left. It should read that you have to buy 3 at regular club prices ($29.95 for Blu-rays).
  5. Choose 5 Blu-ray titles and add to list on right.
  6. Important - Add a sixth bonus Blu-ray at $11.95. This will count toward your membership commitment. Now you only have to buy 2 at $29.95. laugh out loud
  7. Add a second bonus Blu-ray for $8.95. This will make a total of 7 Blu-rays on the initial order. Shipping is free.
  8. Once you receive your initial order, buy two more Blu-rays on separate orders at $29.95 plus $3.95 shipping each.
  9. Cancel your membership to avoid messing with their "featured selections" every 4 weeks.

Here is how the math works out:

Initial order for 7 Blu-rays = $21.90
1st order at regular price for one Blu-ray = $33.90
2nd order at regular price for one Blu-ray = $33.90
Total price $89.70 for 9 Blu-rays.

Here is the list of Blu-rays that I got, but there are a lot more available on the site. Not every movie that is available to DMC members can count toward the 5 for $1 offer though (especially 3D movies). However I believe that you can buy a 3D Blu-ray to meet the two membership commitment Blu-rays.
  1. Toy Story
  2. Toy Story 2
  3. Toy Story 3
  4. Bolt
  5. Wall-E
  6. Tinkerbell
  7. Sorcerer's Apprentice
  8. A Bug's Life
  9. Ratatouille

Let me know what you all think!
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

Offer should change to 5 DVDs or Blu-rays for $1.

1st order at regular price for one Blu-ray = $33.90
2nd order at regular price for one Blu-ray = $33.90
Total price $89.70 for 9 Blu-rays."

Here is what the terms of membership state:

"As a Disney Movie Club member, all you need to do is buy 3 movies at regular Club prices in the next 24 months (starting at $29.95 per DVD and $29.95 per Blu-ray), plus shipping and processing of $3.95 for the first title in each order, and $1.49 for each additional title in that same order. You may cancel your membership at any time after purchasing the 3 movies."

You don't have to buy a certain number each year. Since your initial order already includes the "bonus" Blu-ray, you therefore only have to buy 2 Blu-rays in the next 24 months. I ordered the Blu-rays at the regular price right away so that I could cancel right away. I assume that they would let me re-join sometime in the future, but don't know for sure.

Also the club offers special discounts on other Blu-ray movies when you buy one at regular price to fulfill your commitment . I was able to buy National Treasure 2 on Blu-ray for around $8 because it made the shipping free.

Sorry, DC, I didn't mean to imply that I cancelled right after ordering. I did have to wait until all orders were processed and shipped, and then my account online indicated that my 3 commitments had been met. It usually takes a few days before an order will be marked as fulfilling one of the obligations after it ships.
Thanks for the response. How long did it take from your order for them to actually start shipping it out? Also, how do you go about denying the featured movie, or should I not worry about that if I plan on cancelling?

question. for the two regular priced movies that you have to get secondly, can those be 3d movies and count??? I would like to get the lion king 3d version as one of my regular-priced movies but only if it counts towards the promo

And is the newest winnie the pooh that was released one of those that will go back in the vault like other movies? The only movies I want to get as my promo movies with this deal are those that will be locked up eventually. Pixar movies don't get put back in the vault do they? I don't yet own Toy Story 3 or Bug's Life but those should always be available right?

basically, I'm not wanting to waste this promo on movies that at least have the possibility to drop below $8 from various retailers like amazon and whatnot so I don't want to get any of the grown-up films or anything.

ooo one more thing, does Disney have a release list of future blu-ray releases? I don't want to waste my two regular priced purchases on movies I don't want. Would like to save them for Aladdin and 101 Dalmatians (maybe something else that I'm forgetting). Hopefully those will be released within the next two years?

p.s. HAHA amazon fail!

99% sure any of the 3D Blurays will qualify as a commitment -- 29.95 and up. I suspect Pooh will eventually be vaulted since it was a Disney release.

Most up to date list of US upcoming releases -- it's not absolutely chiseled in stone, but it's pretty close at least for the next 12 months:

Diamond Editon for Spring 2013 is Aladdin.

Aristocats coming to Blu-ray August 7th.

The Rescuers & The Rescuers Down Under coming to Blu-ray in a 35th anniversary combo pack summer 2012.

Pocahontas and Pocahontas 2 coming to Blu-ray in a combo pack summer 2012.

Lady and the Tramp 2 coming to Blu-ray summer 2012.

Secret of the Wings, a new Disney Fairies film, coming to blu-ray fall 2012.

Thanks, just signed up. I wish there were a few more Studio Ghibli selections available on Blu Ray, though! I love me some Miyazaki.

If you sign up for the Blu Ray club, do DVD purchases count for your total? Actually, is there a difference between the Blu Ray club and the DVD club?

No Dalmatians??? Jungle Book?? Peter Pan?? Those are some true classics. Although The Rescuers combo pack might interest me. Always nice when they throw in the sequel like they did with Fox and the Hound along with Fantasia.

forgot to ask if those Disney coupons work when ordering from this promo. Can I get $8 or $10 off of a movie and have it count towards the commitment?

That's a new question and one I don't think I've heard before, but I strongly doubt they will let you use the Regular Disney coupons. Those are usually reserved for B&M stores and I'm assuming with the other promotions attached already from Disney it wouldn't seem they'd want to supplement you even more.

Well, 101 Dalmatians is slated for release in some countries in 2012 so there is some hope that 2013 for the UK/US is possible. Obviously a little early to know if any of these will be US compatible.

The initial order took several days to process before it shipped out. The membership commitment orders shipped a lot faster after that.

As far as the featured selection, they will send you an email notification about it. You can just log into your account to deny it. Real easy.

TU & Rep'd.
BTW -- Went thru uPromise link to DMC -- supposedly will get $10 (on top of stacking the code). Of course, could find out the code invalidates the $10, but worth a shot.

Last night it wasn't working for me on my laptop. But today it worked on my work computer. Are you signed into a Disney account when trying to go to the site?

Just got my initial order: Dumbo, Alice in Wonderland, Nightmare Before XMas, Toy Story 2 & 3 (recently got a good deal on the original used), Ratatouille (was stuck on this or Incredibles and went with this for now), and Up.

Waiting on Muppets to order the other two. Trying to figure out if I wanna grab Beauty & The Beast and/or Bambi before they're Vaulted.

Thumbs up!
