Heads up: 2nd year fee waived too for those who got Amex Gold 50K points, 2-yr fee waiver deal in May

yes 75K was the offer on the Gold Personal. we got more due to some hokey-pokey. when transferring to miles, sometimes you get a bonus (better than 1:1) depending on the deal. like with Delta & BA in the past.

i also got that deal.
i don't remember when I apply for the card tho.

most of us applied in May. So its not yet time

i called them as i didnt remember if it was time and they told me the offer si there but it was for targeted people so check at end of may and fee is charged, they can investigate and we have 2 billing cycles after fee to cancel and get fee reimbursed. so apparently no need to cancel before end of may.

I saw that offer on something that Amex sent me (regarding this card, which I got under the offer mentioned here), but haven't called to follow up or anything. Need to burn those points though.

Yes on all 3 questions.

All the promos (75/100k pts) were "targeted", but a lot of us got in by calling MR. Now or since from last Sept, all promo inquiries are referred to another department. The extra 25k pts were due to a AMEX system glitch or something. I didn't get it but still more than grateful for getting 175k pts.

For your last question, normally it's 1:1 but there is a xfer fee. Again, I was lucky to xfer last Aug/Sept when AMEX had a 50% bonus w/ Delta AND the fee was waived 'cuz the FCC or something hadn't pass a bill yet.

I got in on the Columbia MBA deal in May for 2 cards (me and my wife). The deal was 50k after a few months of having the card. Then I called in a few days later and got in on 75k bonus instead of the MBA deal (since the MBA deal was supposidly targeted and 75k is better). A few months later, AMEX gave me 50k for the Columbia Grad bonus (125k x 2 = 250k points), so I cashed out with $1,000, 2 International round trip tickets on Continental (160k points), an XBOX 360 250GB Kinect Bundle (Dell.com), and a few small items on Amazon (~$3,000 total value).

I called last night to verify when my first annual billing will be on both cards and I was told that it's May 2013 (2 years). I think I'm going to keep my cards open for another year since the rewards program is not bad. FYI - closing any cards puts a small hit on your credit (which is the only downside to jumping on all the signup bonus deals).

I called a few weeks ago and they told me that as long as I have the screen shot that says 2 years free, which I do, then even if they charge me for a second year, I can call back in and I'll get credited for it. So I'm not too worried.

And for those with AMEX pts, hold onto them! They have gift card sales 1-2 times/yr at 50% off. You can sell the gc's to Plastic Jungle and make a killing. Just be patient

Whats Plastic Jungle? Also I never realized of the 75K deal when it came around last time. Any clue if it is going to be back anytime in the future?

I got the same credit! Does this mean that fee has not been charged yet? Or what is going on?
