Personally, I would do a little research before dropping 2K. But that's just me. The Samsungs, and even the 8000, isn't for everyone. There is no one size fits all here. But I do agree, that it's the best LED Samsung produced for 2011.

So if you like the Samsung "look", then this is probably the one to get.

Nope, it was never that price, not even at Frys. I think the lowest they went was $2399.

There are no returns on this ebay find, but if you like the model enough, you can always deal with Samsung with any issues. However, if you aren't sure this is the tv for you, I wouldn't just blindly purchase it. I took almost a year to decide on a tv. I visited multiple stores, read AVS owners threads on different models, and knew about the failings along with where it shines.

So what TV did you end up buying?

Simply because they can use eBay as a marketing/sales venue to get more customers. Lots of online stores use this marketing strategy, and it's very effective.

Very tempted but i already have an older samsung with 1080p non-3d at 46 inches. Could probably sell it i suppose but really is there a justification just to get 3d and wider screen. What kind of difference would I expect with a LN-T4661F to UN60D8000? hz rating buries mine 60 vs 240. I'm not into all the techno babble but am into upgrading because of movies/games moving into 3d yet really are there many games that make use of it right now?

After reading CNET's review I'd disagree. They only rated it a 6 out of 10 for performance.

The bad: The UND8000 series is extremely expensive and exhibits poor screen uniformity with excessive brightness variation and banding. Details in shadows were obscured somewhat, and the glossy screen reflects a lot of ambient light. Smart Hub lacks Amazon Instant, its search is next to useless, and its interface can be cluttered and confusing.

The bottom line: The Samsung UND8000 TV delivers best-in-class looks and features, but its picture quality--thanks to uneven screen uniformity--is ultimately not as good as that of many less expensive models.

A few retailers have Sharp LED 60s for 1199... Sitting back at the proper distance.. Sharp, Sony, LG, Samsung??? Ahh I cant tell a differance if they are all calibrated properly.. Instore default factory presets are not a fair comparison.. Just my 2cents
