Black History Month is a great time to launch the African Americans for Obama campaign!

Oh...and there is no violation of separation between church and state since no laws are being passed to favor one religion over another, and no public tax money is being used to "pressure the churches".

I too would be concern about what Obama is doing if it was not for the hypocrisy and partisanism of the right

What happened to that Obama Vs. Church thread? Oh yea, Obama is still wrong for forcing Churches to fund health care for their workers, according to the right leaning member there...

He must be getting desperate. Doesn't surprise me that he would go the race route. Fits his MO. He's basically saying "Vote for me because I'm black just like you."

Can you really call something news in 2012 if it's been around since 2007?

Just a little heads up, in an election year, you should expect to hear every candidate speak to every special interest group about what he/she has done to further those interests and what they hope to do if elected. If you check the official campaign site you will see similar messages for Asian Americans, veterans, LGBT, women and more.

It's the sign of a very smooth and well organized campaign to equip community advocates to further disseminate those messages. Particularly in light of the fact the the overwhelming majority of the campaign will be focused on mainstream messaging.

This is as phony of an issue like those recent anti discrimination phonies. For years they enjoyed with a wink and a nod the fruits of massive discrimination against blacks. i dont think its that simple. It strikes me as a bit unfair to equate the "champions of equality" to the old school racists. each generation brings with it far less racism (from whites). I see very little in my generation (thinking about my experiences in life, anecdotal). Having said that, I think the generations before me were quite racist, particularly the baby boomers gen, although, I am speaking generally, and not calling all of them racist.

I was raised to treat people as individuals and that makes sense. I can understand that some racists may/will hide behind statments like that. At the same time, i think liberals have moved away from the individualism approach they had in years past, largely because it did not work as well as they hoped. Now they have moved to a more modified approach of racism is a live and well, so we need special rights for non-whites.

I cannot disagree with you. I even agree that racism is on the decline. But I see too many otherwise racists who pretend to be for equality. (Here is another test: see if those who are supposedly for equality now are also opposing gay marriage.)

There are also genuine people who think that AA is bad for all and even bad for blacks. But when a person mainly is concerned about disadvantages to the while majority while either ignoring or downright denying the lingering effects of racism against blacks, that is a clue to me that their opposition to AA is not genuine.

the problem with AA these days is that it seems to be the middle class balcks who derive the most advantage (again, anecdotal, my experience). In addition, I think that some times, AA goes so far as to make the advantage a minority gets unrealistic (think michigan state case 10 years ago where being a minority was worth more than a perfect SAT score).

When Michael Dukakis ran for office, 'Greeks for Dukakis' signs were common in many neighborhoods across the country. In Astoria, Queens, NYC it was downright obnoxious.

People should vote America first, but those that hold such an opinion are in the minority and are often ridiculed for it.

Now that's something for a little kid to hoot and holler about.

Why would Ron Paul launch a Whites for Paul Rally....The candidates are almost 99.9999999999% White Males all the time anyway!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It would be silly.
