Thread Details

Last Edited by godfather927 February 27, 2012 at 11:54 AM
Thread to discuss movies of any type and date, but perhaps with more focus on recent ones in the past couple years.

Please be courteous to others when discussing a fairly recent movie with unexpected plot elements or endings, and always spoiler tag comments that could ruin the story for anyone who hasn't seen the movie yet. When trying to decide whether or not to tag something, please err on the side of caution since even the mention that a certain movie has a twist (without divulging what it is) could end up being a mini-spoiler itself.

In case you don't already know how, you can spoiler tag any block of text with the following tags:

this tag goes at the end of the hidden text ~~~~>
this tag goes at the beginning of the hidden text ~~~~>
Just watched Killing Them Softly. I thought it was a great movie. Brad Pitt continues to impress me.
Tell me you aren't psyched out of your mind to see World War Z. I watched 1 trailer and that was enough for me, I am trying to avoid commercials/trailers at all costs.

I read the book a couple years ago and, sadly, it looks like the movie butchers how the book goes. I will inevitably still see it in theaters, but it's not the same World War Z.

Django Unchained.... Good. well played parts. As an actor, I really like Christoph Waltz (Dr. King Schultz... also as Col. Hans Landa in Inglourious Basterds) But the movie was predictable and very drawn out. It could have been 45-60min shorter.

Jack Reacher... I really liked this movie. Well played and a good story.

I started watching Life of Pi late last night but started to nod so I cut it off and will finish it this week. I liked what I have seen so far though. It seems really well made.

loved Zombie Land.

Fairly disappointed by Django Unchained (big Tarantino fan).

I've become a big fan of Walz though.

I randomly saw Green Hornet the other day and noticed he was the villain in that movie too. But in that movie he sucked....but I think it was the role that made him suck. He was freakin awesome as Landa IMO.

I watched The Game [imdb.com] this weekend. I had seen it before, but forgot parts of it. Mainly I forgot how interesting it is/was. Wife had never seen it, she spent the last 10 minutes like this OMG

I finally have her convinced that movies that are 15-20 years old can still be great.

Might want to spoiler tag that last bit for those who havent seen it. This could be a good candidate for something to watch again with the wife after i get through django, silver linings, and layer cake.

Achievements are not for the meek, it is better to forfeit inheritance of the earth so that the mighty may look upon my gamerscore, and despair. Achievements are for men who dream; men who dare; men who achieve! Men who carve out entire galaxies with nothing more than nimble cheetos-dusted fingers and their wits, and in our leisurely twilight days we shall sit by softly flickering fires with our descendants recounting the tales of these unimaginable glories.
