Called them; the form (short or long) has to be filled out on the internet to get the promotion. They can't offer the promotion/the points over the phone.
They gave me a phone number for Internet Support who assured me that the promotion should carry over even with the short form. I asked them what happens if it doesn't and was told they have a Nonfulfillment Procedure where if it doesn't become part of the credit card terms, they will investigate it and make it happen later.
I was so worried about the discussion about the short and long links, because I chose existing card member but I didn't trust the short link since it wasn't asking information about my business, so I went back by clicking Go back to the standard application. But I this point I don't remember if I continued applying through this form, or what exactly did I do. I have some screen shots, but I still wasn't sure when I took them.
So I called today and the CSR told me at the beginning that he doesn't see this promotion applied, but then he "dug deeper" and he said that it is actually attached to my account.
I think everything should be fine for everyone who applied through this link, no matter what path they took.
So did the short form yesterday and received "Pending." Just received my "approved" email. Will call tomorrow to verify I qualify for the promotion, but from the sound of other SD'ers, shouldn't be much to worry about.
Did anyone save the confirmation they got on this, that could email it to me? I was too stupid to do that.
I called Amex and they say I am definitely flagged as getting 75,000 points if I spend $10,000 in 120 days, but there is absolutely nothing they can email me to confirm that. As a deep cynic I now regret not saving the confirmation.
So if someone can email me their confirmation, I will have something.
I tried to put a $5,700 dental bill on my new amex card. It bounced. Apparently I have only $1,800 in credit (I know they don't call it credit, but isn't that what it is?)
With that limit it is physically impossible to spend $10,000 in 4 months.
What you have to do it pay off your card weekly.
And in the case of my $5,700 bill, I have to prepay the card to put a charge on it. How does that make sense?
My B/A card has a $28,000 credit limit. Someone explain why Amex is better? I am so confused.
