If you can get the Best Buy store to substitute

then it seems to me $78.99 is a great price for resale!
The "store drive" was just $199.99 in late January!

Really needed one so I grabbed a 1TB from the Anaheim CA store for $78+ Tax.

I should also note that I couldn't find them on my local stores clearance page but they did indeed have plenty of each.

There were plenty left when I was there a couple hours ago.

thumbs down don't mean a thing in the real world if you find something at a price point that you're satisfied with...especially when no one is posting a better price, my thinking is take it or leave it, never understood why people are so big on reps and thumbs

I had been looking for a new drive since my old WD Mybook 250 GB gave up the ghost last week (clicks and won't show up) after 5 solid years of service.

After missing all the good Staples deals this was the best it was going to get.

I can confirm that my Best Buy had them up top in the cage area. Once I got home and opened it up I realized it was probably a return that was resealed because it had a big old scratch on it. Went back and got another one.

Now if I can recover my data from the failed drive I'll be a happy camper. Photos and videos of my son as a baby, music, movies are all on there. I've had it in the freezer for about 24 hours and am crossing my fingers. Lesson learned.

Not sure why many negative votes, when it comes to clearance item it's always extremely B&M YMMV. If you get lucky to score one, good for you. If not, don't get pissed. I was able to get a 750GB version for $59.99, not bad...

I agree. This is a decent deal. I could not find a comparable deal so in 4 1. It may not be a super low price that we saw last Nov.-Dec. of $55, but it ain't bad at all if you need one right now. Thanks OP.

The Compton store is my local one too.

Bought 1 at Roseville, Ca. 1 more left.
At that particular bestbuy it was not in the external drive section. They had the same non-clearanced drive in a the green box at that location (MSRP). The Discounted blue box model was in the laptop section, on a lower shelf, in a seperate kiosk.

Sent one of my co-workers for hers, since her 500GB is dying. The store showed 7 in stock. but they could only find 2 of them. She got one and grabbed one for me. You can never have too much portable storage. TY OP and repped!
