Verizon Triple Play 84.99 for 2 years

Western NY - no DVR or 2nd box. Still the best deal I've seen available here. My previous 2 year commitment ended last month - May have to jump on it.

anyone buy their own dvr instead of locking themselves in contract? i heard the vzn chargese 19.99 per month for those puppies.
personally i'm on the hunt just for the fios. i'll use obi for free phone and roku for tv.

i'd consider a tv bundle if the surcharge surprise package is manageable. i heard the vzn loves giving surprises, especially for phone and tv.

Edit: Took a better look at the options available today for me:

2 Year Contract:
25/25 internet (instead of 15/5 in the OP) + Prime HD for 74.99 1st yr, 84.99 2nd yr, free dvr
35/35 internet (instead of 15/5 in the OP) + Prime HD for 79.99 1st yr, 89.99 2nd yr, free dvr
50/20 internet (instead of 15/5 in the OP) + Prime HD for 84.99 1st yr, 94.99 2nd yr, free dvr

No Contract:
Same but no dvr.

So if the dvr is worth a savings of 20/mo, for 24 months = 480. If you can find a cheaper dvr elsewhere that works with fios, you can pay the same as averaged price in OP, no contract, with 35/35 internet. The obi will pay for itself (no line charge, federal/state surcharges taxes, vzn surcharges, long distance plans, free calls etc.)

monthly charges are outrageous, but not sure if buying it by yourself is an option

northern NJ here - same deal, but mine is 109.99 with no freebies for the lowest package available.

The whole house media DVR is 20, or you can get single DVR for 15 per month.

The only option I am aware of is a Media Center type PC. You could go with internal Ceton 4 tuner card or Silicon Dust network box. You still need to rent the cablecard from Verizon, but I think that's under $5. Lots of discussions on it here in Slickdeals!

Where upstate are you???! I am about 60 miles from NYC and there is no FIOS near me. So I would love to know where you live that you get it.

Me, too. I got that back in January. I pay about $113 including taxes for The triple Play with 15/5 internet, unlimited calling and Prime HD with Set box for 3 rooms and Showtime & Starz. I didn't get DVR as the On-Demand is free and covers most of the show I watch already.
