How to maximize your burrito:

1 Ask for it double wrapped
2 Ask for brown rice. "Oh, actually I want some white rice also"
3 Ask for black beans. "Oh, actually I want some pinto beans also"
4 Meat: ask for half of one, half of another. They end up giving you two full scoops <-- I'm gonna try this one, the other tips are a little too 'muerto de hambre'.
5 Ask for the fajitas (bell peppers and onions) ...They sometimes skip over that
6 Corn, salsa, cheese, lettuce, sour cream, etc.
7 Throw in the phrase "Can I get a little more?" as often as you like.

If you do this right, it should weigh 2+ pounds, require two pieces of foil to wrap, and make another customer ask "what the heck did you order? I want that!

To Get A LOT more, I always ask for a bowl with a tortilla in the bottom. Then do #2-7 from above. They put a lot because they don't have to wrap it, So the food just keeps piling on. I'll eat about half of it with a fork, then wrap the burrito myself.

OR... you can just order what you like rather than "maximizing" a burrito as if your body and personal health are some kind of 'slickdeal'
(And save $$ from the gym membership/diet pills you will need to burn off those calories!)

I maximize my burrito by ordering a burrito bowl then asking for the tortilla on the side. More food than your standard burrito and the same price as they do not charge for the tortilla.

I don't know if it's just Clifton, NJ, but when I ask for the tortilla on the side they fold it and wrap it in tinfoil defeating the original intention.

What you wish and what actually happens could be two very different things!!
I have never seen free chips & salsa at Chipotle in the last 3-4 years.

Even worse is the fact that the first Chipotle around here came in where there used to be an Angry Burritos which sold bigger burritos with more toppings for less $$$ AND gave you free chips and salsa. But for some reason no one ever ate at Angry Burritos, and Chipotle practically has a line out the door at all times. Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)

I don't get it either. The only "flavor" to their food is the heat. I won't be back and free chips won't change that. Most Mexican/ Tex Mex places give free chips and salsa all the time. This is akin to an Italian place putting out a coupon for free bread.

Good foods cost more than crap. If you want crap then go to Taco Bell. Chipotle is great and while I understand that some people just don't like the flavor of it (like my parents - or me the first time I had it), don't confuse an $8 (not much more than $6, actually) burrito with a McDouble from the dollar menu. It's a free market and if they can get it then more power to them - it's not like they've cornered the cancer med market. You have other options.

Edit: disclaimer - sometimes I like to eat crappy food too, so don't want you to think I'm on a nutritional high horse. Love me some Speedway 2 for $2 pizza sometimes.

They used to be interesting and reasonably priced when they started, but now they're too-cool-for-school. Frown

$8 ?? where do you live. I pay 6.25 and I'm near Miami, FL - where cost of living is high.

I don't see that as a bad deal at all. They make them so big that I can't even finish it.

$6.25 for that is totally worth it to me. Add on free chips and salsa w/ the coupon and pay 1.50 for a soda, that means I'm at less than $8.00 for a full meal that fills me up - and was made fresh.

hmm all the burritos here are <$7.

You always pay more for higher quality, organic food. If you don't like it I'm sure there is a taco bell with their junk nearby.

I emailed Chipotle corporate and asked why they charge for chips and salsa. Their response was they are made fresh daily and its costs for the wages to prepare them. While I responded back that was pretty lame and other Mexican Grills, i.e., Baja Fresh give them for free they did not respond back. So, I just bypass them and go to either Baja Fresh or Sharkies.
