Chase Rewards Points Travel Question

Unfortunately, I am not on Sapphire or Ink member, rather just a Chase Freedom card holder. Any additional guidance would be appreciated. Thanks for your reply though!

If you do get one of those other cards, then you could transfer your freedom points to Ultimate Rewards points (1:1 transfer), and then transfer them out to any Ultimate Rewards partner. There are lots of bloggers writing about the Freedom being one of the quickest ways to accumulate UR points -- but you do need to have a UR card in addition to the Freedom.

If you don't get/have an Ultimate Rewards card, then your best bet may be waiting for gift cards or other redemptions to go on sale.

FYI - There are places on-line where you can sell your UR points for more than just 1 cent a point. I have a family member who transfers them to miles and then flies business class on them so I have an easy way to do it but there are other ways.

The times I've looked at booking a flight on the UR site it's always been more. Just booked an open jaw trip to Asia for $1,200 yet the UR site wanted $1,800 for the same carrier and flights!?!?!?!? Great that they give you a 25% premium on redemption but if they charge you 50% more that kind of eats away at the savings!

I have also in fact seen my points worth a 25% premium for travel so not sure why you're seeing what you're seeing.

Wait, the Freedom isn't part of Ultimate Rewards? I have a Sapphire Preferred and a Freedom card now. When I log on to the UR site I have to pick which card I want.

Yes, the Freedom card is part of Ultimate Rewards. It is confusing, but only if you have the Sapphire Preferred or the Ink Bold card can you transfer points to airline miles (United, for example) which can be worth much more than 1 cent each when used wisely.

Ya, I realized that when I didn't see the Transfer option I may need to transfer my Freedom to my Sapphire and then to United before I cancel my Sapphire card
