5000 bonus sony reward points for redeeming 5000 points

just redeemed for ARCO gas card last week. ((

I've done some reading, but I hope someone else has done more than me. It appears there is an offer for 5,000 bonus points for your first purchase with a Sony Rewards Card. Could we expect to sign up for a card, be accepted, get the card, and make a purchase in a reasonable time frame to get these 5k points with which to redeem for another 5k points for a total of 10k basically free points minus some small purchase with the card?

You get 5000 points for the first purchase, then redeem 5000 points and get another 5000 points!

nice, picked up twisted metal for a net of 1,518 points including tax, thanks and repped.
