Who's going to use remote desktop on iphone?
iPad version is $4.99 fyi.

I leveled my professions in the new Star Wars MMO while at work with this on my iPhone. There are a lot of unique things people can do with it. Good deal OP.


Have to add- I have it for my touchpad and prefer using it there, but at work we do not have any access to wifi so I'm limited to using it on my iphone.

I connect to my home PC every single day from work. Because I don't want our network admins to even have a remote chance of watching me, I do it from LogMeIn on my iPhone. The data consumption won't kill you. Again, I do it every single day (literally), compress the images, and haven't even gone over 2 GB, though I'm on unlimited plan.
What keeps me from going Splashtop is mainly their requirement for a Google account. My LMI takes a disposable email that I've registered with months ago - suits me well. Google = more tracking, as now you can't even get an anonymous account, due to the phone number verification.l
Basically, try LMI if you're concerned about privacy at all.

I use SplashTop on my HP TouchPad, and I don't recall ever being asked for a Google account. Maybe the iOS version is different??

The Google account is for automatic internet discovery. If you leave home, signing into your Google account (on both computer and mobile device) will allow Splashtop to find your computer. If you're on the same network (ie both devices are at home, connected to the same router), then the Google account feature is not necessary since Splashtop will find your devices just fine.

Dumb question.. What is the difference between touchpad and remote access apps? TIA

FYI not sure how reliable the info is but I looked up file hound and it says in the description " included in the file hound app is the remote access" ... So maybe you can purchase only file hound and get remote access free.... Not sure though ...

Splashtop Remote Desktop is great especially since it allows you to hear sounds from the computer being accessed. Other remote apps don't do this.

FYI - Xdisplay (not mentioned here but also sold by Splashtop) on the other hand sucks, avoid this! I dled the free version and my screen was extended with no problems. Then I bought the app and now my screen won't extend at all; it will only duplicate. Contacted CS and they couldn't fix and ended up ignoring the problem entirely. Whack!

I use Team Viewer for iPhone and it seems to work fine, and its free.I access my comp to start a download at work so it will be finished by the time I get home.

I still think the price should be a bit less but this is a great App. I use it on TouchPad (paid the full price) and would totally get if I had iPad.

Remote access apps let you use your computer through you device (iPhone, iPod, etc)
an image of your computer's desktop will be on your device and you can control it
Touchpad is just the mouse, kind of like a portable touchpad which is normally on your laptop.
One you can see your desktop screen as you use it, so you can be anywhere in the world with internet. The other you need to be in front of your computer to see what you are doing, but you can still use it from anywhere with internet
