I wonder if I can switch to Blue Cash Preferred cause Blue Cash Everyday card gives 2 or 3% at supermarkets only. Frown

Keep in mind preferred vs everyday has a 75 dollar yearly fee associated. That's why I chose everyday over the preferred - although you can usually call in and get the fee waived I don't wanna deal with that hassle.

The additional $400 I made off of the preferred version of the card over what I would have with the same spending on the everyday version more than made up for the $75 annual fee for 2011.

Which is a wash over the everyday version of the card if you spend as little as $200 per month at the grocery store alone.

If you actually USE the card regularly then the fee is paid for with the added rewards cash in just a couple of months.

Even after factoring in the $75 fee, I made over $400 extra in rewards cash in 2011 with this card over what I would have made if I had used the "everyday" version (with its lower rewards percentages) instead.

this.

I actually switched my every day card to this a few months ago. I was eligible for the 12 month no interest promotion too. I love AMEX.

I have the everyday card and once my annual spending reaches $6,500, the rewards increase from 1.0% cash back on gas, grocery & drugstore, plus 0.5% on everywhere else to 5.0% cash back on gas, grocery & drugstore, plus 1.0% on everywhere else. You'd have to do the math to see if the $75 annual fee is worth it. In my case, this is the main card I use and I get to $6,500 in about 2+ months so it makes sense to stick with the everyday card.

the old blue cash card used to not really reward you until $6500. now the everyday is 3-2-1% on groceries-gas/department-all and 6-3-1% for the preferred no matter how much you spend

This seems like a good deal. Not many amex cc deals with bonus and good cb.

$1000 in 3 months is a high requirement compared to the $500 of other cc's.

plus, the annual fee sucks.

also, I find that grocery purchases rarely ever register as "grocery" on the monthly statement, so you only get 1% back, unless you call them every month.

I'm confused about the deal here. The $150 back on $1000 in 3 months isn't new...

Yes, before committing to the card, you should really check your merchant transactions to see how they label their store.
