EVO 3D screen cracked
Dropped my phone (with an otterbox commuter) and the screen shattered. No insurance and not up for a new phone for a while. The options I have considered are:1. Send it to somebody on ebay and have them fix it for $50 (trustworthy?). 2. Buy the repair kit on ebay for $20 and do it myself (seems kind of difficult). 3. Take it to a local phone shop for repair @ $120 (pricey). I've been a sprint customer for 9 years and I brought it to their corporate store to see if I could pay them to fix it and they told me to suck pole. Anybody have a similar issue that can offer any advice? Thanks!! "It's immoral to let a sucker keep his money"

i'd try to fix it myself personally.
Maybe you're eligible for upgrade from sprint? if not i'd try replacing it myself 1st, if not i'd just buy a used one. Try it yourself first. Sometimes these things are easier than you think once you get over the initial intimidation. Take your time, watch the youtube videos, read the tutorials, etc. and take a deep breath. If you mess up, as long as it isn't too bad, you can still send it to someone to fix.

4 months back I bought a nice used EVO 4G for $160. Even if you can't get your 3D fixed and replacing is too much, you have other options that are just barely more than your most expensive repair option.

I don't think it would be hard to do. I replaced the screen on my daughter's EVO 4G a month ago and took approximately 10 minutes to do. Was literally 6-7 screws and disconnecting the LCD cables to remove the logic board from old screen, reconnect the logic board to new screen, put screws back in and it was done. That easy.
I would look at ifixit.com to see if they have a tear down of the phone on their site. Or, I am sure there are plenty of youtube videos of it so you can check it out. |
