What's "sdxc" and class 6 speed?

yeah, I'm a lil ignorant on SDXC. Is it faster than say class10 SDHC? Can I use an adapter (does it come with one?) in my DSLR if it can recognize SDXC? How will the speed be compared to SDHC Ultra 30/MBs?

Just a few things, good to know:

1. SDHC/SDXC cards have a maximum bus speed of 25 Mbit/s

2. SDHC/SDXC UHS-I cards increase the bus speed to 104 Mbit/s. But the hardware must also support the faster bus, if not the cards will run on the older bus (so the same 25 Mbit/s maximum. At this moment is known that A77 supports UHS-I bus, but NEX5N does not. Nobody knows yet if NEX7 will support (it might, if it's using the same controller as A77).

3. Just as a note, there is also an even faster bus defined, UHS-II, which ads additional pins on the card (but it also backward compatible).This bus allows speeds up to 300 MBit/s. There is curently NO device which can use this bus.

4. About USB. Most USB SD readers (cheap ones) top at 15 Mbit/s , so well bellow the 25 MBit/s of standard SD bus. There are a few which will go up to 20 Mbit/s. You need an USB3 reader and port to be able to get maximum speed when accessing a card. Or you need a PCIe reader (many laptops have the build in reader on PCIe bus). These should be able to show the real speed of the card.

There is no real reason to implement a very fast USB controller in cameras, so most likely they will have the sandard 15 Mbit/s one, so never test a card using the camera USB connection (this will test your USB speed not the card speed), as most cards today will go higher than 15 Mbit/s ( the maximum nominal speed is 10 Mbit/s write for Class 10, as a standard spec, but many cards go well higher than this.).Anyway, even if you have a very fast US on camera, it's still not what you care about.You most likely want a fast card to reduce the time you wait for buffer clearing when taking photos in burst mode. Copiing data to PC can allways be done taking the card out and using a reader if you don't want to wait when copiing.

yes, you can use sd card adapters
This card has same sdhc ultra 30mb/s

do a lot of phones support this? I doubt my G2 supports it, but I was wondering how many of the newer phones do (since I might upgrade soon)
