1. The extra heat these cards produce increases ambient temperature, making cooling tougher. 2. The extra power used may cost enough in places with expensive power to make another card a better alternative. 3. The heat these cards produce will heat up other components in the computer, and possibly lead to stress. If your PSU doesn't meet the minimum specs, then you're going to have to buy another one. |

I said people would wonder what is wrong with their cards because they believe 85C is too high. By people, I mean members from different forums I frequent. If these cards are using their auto fan profile settings, then it is possible that the temperature reaches 85C. However, I believe most enthusiasts ramp up their fans to keep their temperatures around 75C or below. These are just links I pulled up on the first page of Google for the search terms "GTX 580 temperature". http://forums.nvidia.c http://forums.nvidia.c http://www.evga.com/forums/tm.asp...34&mpa http://forums.nvidia.c http://www.evga.com/forums/tm.asp...50&mpa http://www.overclock.n I'm not trying to spread misinformation. I'm just letting people know my opinion as to why some may think their GTX 480 is silent. So, I guess what I"m trying to say is that the GTX 480 could be "quiet" if you leave the fan settings alone and you're comfortable with your GPU running at a temperature around 90C. No clue, just don't give it to them 6)Black Friday deals aren't as great as people make them seem. |

What is the minimum spec? I am trying to stuff this card into a dell inspirion 530. It has a 300W power supply. Bad idea? Do I have to upgrade the psu? Hardcop link from earlier says 775W PS? |

I am an owner and I tell everyone who asks me what do I think about this card that its too noisy. I have a PNY so Im not sure if the noise varies from different brands.
An aftermarket cooler will significally reduce the heat and noise. That is also based on my experience. |

The inside of your case is really neat. Mine looks like a rat's nest. But then again I have like 6 hard drives and all other kinds of crap inside it. To keep mine cool I took off the side panels. Best TV show's of all time:
