This drive was $69 from April through October of last year, then went to a sky high price of $229 in November of last year due to the Thai floods.
Since that time, the price has dropped at a tremendous rate of speed even for technology items. The price of this drive has been dropping about 8% to 10% a week for the past six weeks.
If this trend continues, this drive will return to a pre-flood price of $69 within 4 to 5 weeks.
If you really need a drive, today, it's not a bad drive. If you don't need it today, you'll may soon regret the price you've paid today.

No way these drives are $69 in 4-5 weeks. Lucky if they keep dropping $10-15 a month like they have been.

In 4 to 6 weeks, I expect the Newegg "coupon" price, Amazon Lightening deal price, or special deal of the day price to have dropped to 2011 lows. Today - equivalent Seagate and Western Digital drives are selling for retail of $120 and $130 respectively. This nearly unprecedented rate of price drops is being repeated throughout the market.

So tempting... I have two of these Samsungs already, and have never owned a better drive. It's good to see the prices dropping finally.

Good drives. I still remember picking up a bunch of these for $60 last year -- oh well. This seems like a good price compared to what they've been selling for. I keep hoping they'll drop below $100, though.

I have an old Pentium D computer that will make its way to my father in the very near future. It will need a new hard drive as the current one is starting to click. Its from 06ish. 2 TB is overkill for him, but it seems that smaller hard drives aren't that much cheaper (why pay 85 for 500GB when 2 TB is 100?)

That being said, I've not been a fan of Seagate for quite a while now, but I do love my two HD204UI's. Paid $75 a piece for them last year, and I can wait for the prices to come back down. |

But the answer is neither, as according to http://lmgtfy.com/?q=HD204UI it is 5400rpm. Also, EcoGreen / eco-anything / green drives are generally slower speed drives. |
