I currently have a shuttle g33 running a 1.8 core2duo proc with 250 watt and 2/2tb hard drive. im also running whs 2011. my question is , would it be more energy efficient to run this machine rather then mine? I would assume it is due to the power supply difference but i guess , would it be a huge difference is my question... also, Would I be able to just swap out the hard drives and just run what I already install in my 2/2tb hard drives? so basically a plug and play.
I just want a quieter/energy efficient machine, but dont want to go thru the fuss of reinstalling everything and re-set up everything. |

I have one with 8TB of storage. Just need to add a decent vid card. I put in a AMD 6450 card that was about $30 shipped and plays back anything I can throw at it flawlessly in 1080p. The video card and harddrives were the only thing I added besides WHS2011 for an OS. I also just set my parents up with the same setup this weekend and it is working excellent as well. |

Anything "Monster" doesn't belong on SD unless you are posting about their going out of business sale.
Always count on CA tax whiners. All "deals" from 1SaleADay, Meritline, Daily Steals, McBub, and Tanga are just advertisements. Stop advertising for these shitty companies. There is a big difference between trolls and stupid people. Stop giving stupid people more credit than they deserve by calling them trolls. |

Bear in mind, this has NO operating system and is useless without it.
In addition, a 250 GB server is kind of useless. My server is 4 TB. Photos and videos eat tons of space, which is really the kind of thing you want on a server. And if you are thinking of Windows Home Server, it won't even install on a system with 2 GB of RAM. I found my server delivered data in a jerky fashion before I upgraded it to a quad processor. I can't see this device being useful at all, and you could almost build an AMD system for the same price. Or better, just get a network drive. 1 TB at Staples was just about $100 a short while ago. |
