But pools can be made handicap accessible, and in this case I completely agree that they should be.

There is almost no better form of therapy for a child or adult that is literally stuck to a wheelchair for most of their time each day than to experience the freedom that comes with being able to mobilze more in a pool. If we can install simple equipment onto pool surfaces to make them more accessible to these people, then we should do it. We are only talking about ~$5000 to install a simple lift; were you this up in arms when the ADA required elevators in shopping malls, or hydraulic lifts in sporting venues? Those cost much more.
