Facebook wants more private info

Question for those who got this security checkpoint deal, did you have real pictures of yourself on your facebook? I didn't, only pics of landscapes, etc. I wonder if they thought I wasn't real because I had no pictures of myself on there?

I agee 100%. Moving what about Windows 8 ? that requires a Microsoft Live ID to be signed in to use the operating system. So now thats like forced being signed in to your Facebook account in this case Microsoft Live ID to use your PC day to day. Some say no big deal right. Ok but now Microsoft knows and logs every time you are using your PC. And that is alot different than the world we have now.

I actually read an article immediately before this post about someone who left google and went to Microsoft. They supposedly slammed google publicly about on the Microsoft public blog about Google's push for Google+. He went on about how google had two phases as a compnany.. pre-Google+ and post-Google+. So if social media is that important to such a gigantic company.. we know how profitable they anticipate it being. One comment though that I was taught year ago.. was given as certain amount of data I can find out who you are.. a drivers license may tell me immediately who you are. But if you were on a PC at x time, bought a particular item at y time, did something else at z time etc.... eventually I have enough data to identify you specifically. In the past 10 years they've really started to take seriously the identify which data you give out publicly. Because given enough, they can become composite primary keys.

I don't really see much use in social networking settings that allow total strangers to view my information. But, I think there is a value in the connections one can keep using the service with friends.

Unfortunately, many people don't understand the privacy settings that keep strangers from accessing their information.

Yup, one of the firms the company I work for works with fired an employee a couple weeks back because of posts she.made about a client.

The paranoid ones here should be thankful that facebook require such information to verify accounts. The last thing you want is someone else creating an account under your name with your pictures and causing trouble with it.

What if you're in a work environment and "windows live" is blocked? Or if you don't have internet connectivity?

You still have to be Signed In to your Account just like Signing into Your FaceBook, Windows use to be a one time Activation and thats it. Now you have to Log into your Windows Live ID just to use Windows 8 which some argue its no different than signing into your User Account now in Windows 7 which is seemless and Auto logs in. But thats not reporting Data back to microsoft. Thats on the PC side hardware. Windows Live ID thats for data mining.

DUH.... all thats missing is your name and thats all too easy to get or implied. Personally I have a pretty stable set daily pattern. Even take the same rout to work 99% of everyday. Which I am sure Google and my Android GPS are all too happy or already log my route and sell it to advertisers. Not by saying Victor M. Lauren was here, here, and here, and theres an 80% chance that on Thursdays here go here and buys this. But by saying White male age 25, income $xx,xxx, drives Honda, Likes George Clooney movies and reads Car and Driver will be here, here, and here, and goes here. So they have more than scary levels of information.

you do NOT need windows live ID to use Windows 8

Windows Live ID login is used to sync your personal settings throughout all your devices.
if you choose NOT to use the sync feature, you do not have to.

Its all the rage since Apple's introducing its icloud platform, and google is pushing the cloud account settings throughout their devices.

but nowhere do you need to use this in Windows 8
I personally would care more for the fact they give an option to not use Metro UI as it is clunky and buggy when used with KB/M.

fark Fakebook. I hate it with a passion but recently stared a page just for my business prospecting and referrals.

I've never gotten phone spam in the past and then all of a sudden I'm getting all these telemarketing VMs and other bullshit. I should start answering them and tell them I'm tight with Zuckerberg and if they don't remove my number stat, I'll hunt them down and eat their babies while Z holds them down to watch.

Glad I didn't buy stock in facebook. lol

Glad I made my fake account a long time ago so I can enter contests and such. My fake account is my only account.
