I received an email from Hertz today and happened to notice a section about free Spirit Airlines miles. There are no 'strings' really, just that you must be signed up with both Spirit's FF program and also Hertz Gold points program as well (both free to sign up). You need both membership numbers to register.

What is 5,000 miles worth? I never fly and don't have a clue. Hubby and I are planning a trip from Detroit to Vegas. Wondering if this would be worth much to us.

7,500 miles to get smallest discount to Vegas, only on off-peak (actually depends on where you're flying from.... their program seems difficult to understand) I don't even know where these guys fly to/from. Oh well, can't hurt. |

5000 miles? guys, c'mon it's spirit. home of cheap fares if you can put your luggage under the seat in front of you. So far coming up ord to vegas r/t with all taxes and fees $54, ord to fll r/t with all fees $54, ord to vegas r/t with all fees $57. That's travel in april, april and may. i love the folks who rag on spirit, it leaves more cheap seats for cheap folks like me

Basically how it works is there are zones. I am in LA, so, for example, for a flight from LA to Detroit, they'd book it as a 'zone 3' flight. For that zone 3 flight, it was 15,000 miles during off-peak for one way. During peak times, that same flight would have been lke 90,000 miles round trip. However, from LA to Vegas during off peak, it would only be 2,500 one way. So it depends on where you are, where you want to go, and most importantly, when you want to go there. There is a chart on their website somewhere (hidden beneath all the flashing lights, no doubt) that tells you exactly what destinations fall in what zones from where you are located and also which dates are off peak, standard, peak, etc. Also, off peak dates fill up FAST, you have to book them at least a couple month in advance to get what you want. Having said all that, thanks for the deal, 7,500 free miles is nothing to sneeze at - even with Spirit. Last edited by tlynguyen; 03-14-2012 at 07:40 PM.. |

Thanks OP. Signed up for hertz gold to get this deal, watch to cancel before the "free" $60 fee is charged after June 30, 2012.
If you plan ahead and are not one to travel in prime seasons, Spirit will adequately act as a flying bus for you. But if you want to luxuriously fly last minute thanksgiving or Xmas week, well then maybe Slickdeals is not for you too! Atlantic City to Orlando is 5000 miles r/t off season I will be flying my family of 4 down there in November for 20,000 miles R/T. Can't beat that ever. You can even carry a big laptop/weekender bag for free like we just did. |
