With warmer weather right around the corner, I'm looking to buy a new grill.
We currently have the Weber Performer[amazon.com] which I really like.
I'd like to buy another Performer for this summer but I'm wondering, is another grill with gas ignition that is just as good or better than the performer?
Really like the gas ignition and how charcoal takes over to cooke your food.
For less than half you can get the Weber 22 1/2" One-Touch Gold Kettle Grill. I own this grill and, if taken care of will last for eons.
With the left over money you could buy a large charcoal chimney, table, instant-read thermometer, probe thermometer, infrared thermometer, grill cover, 18" tongs, welding gloves (if you like to wear protective gloves), and still have money left over.
I look at this comparison as I'd be paying an extra $170 for a gas ignition. Using a charcoal chimney is a no-brainer for me so, to me, it's not worth the extra money. However, some people really like the gas ignition so, to them, it's worth the extra money.
I'm just not a fan of anything electric or gas on my grills or smoker - just one more thing to fail. Charcoal never fails.
Regardless of all of that, it's good to hear you like charcoal. Can't beat it.
You know, something I just thought of is . . . have you considered buying a smoker instead?
