Do not know the details of how many or how long they will be running this promotion but we can be safe to assume that they probably will try one per household.
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

SOLD OUT at 5:12PDT!
1,000,000 Sold! WHOO! WHAT A FUN DAY! Hope everyone saved at least few bucks!

CONFIRMED that you do NOT need to enter the code into an amazon account today. It NEVER expires so you can enter it even a year from now. No expiration for code.

IF YOUR GIFT CARD DISAPPEARS FROM YOUR VOUCHERS PAGE, CHECK IT AGAIN AFTER 45-60 MINUTES, or may be 3 hours or 6 hours or tomorrow. YOUR ORDER HAS NOT BEEN CANCELED, IT WILL COME BACK.

Don't worry if you don't get a confirm right away. The following message appeared when mine went through:

Please Note
Due to the popularity of today's Amazon.com Gift Card deal it may take several hours to receive our email confirming your purchase. Thanks for your patience!

Question: wtf... my purchase was 'processing' on amazonlocal, but now it has disappeared. did they cancel it?

Answer: No they did not, its processing your order into a promotional code. In which, it is the final stage before you can get it, which is good news for everyone who gets this although It might take some time than others, just what happened to me, but I received it.
I purchased around 8:30am CST and got confirmation READY email about 9:45am CST so be patient, they are probably very busy.

Limit one GC per account and credit card. Attempting to reuse the same card will result in "The Banhammer! This credit card has already been used to purchase this option."

More info:
http://money.cnn.com/2012/03/15/t...ce=cnn_bin

Just a heads up, the voucher page says the promotional value expires 03/20/12, so you might want to 'redeem' it by adding the full $10 GC balance to your Amazon.com account (per the instructions on the AmazonLocal site) before the end of the day, otherwise it might turn into a $5 gift card. - Was an error from early hours of deal. It is now removed. Expiration date now says "Does not expire"

I just checked the description of the GC; also I called customer service # for Amazon local (the agent said they work for Amazon local + Amazon). They confirmed that by just placing the order the GC value will not diminish. The Amazon local site says:
What You Need to Know
• Amazon.com Gift Cards (“GCs”) do not expire

Shows up as "AmazonLocal" on cc. So techinically this should also qualify for %5 CashBack if you use Chase Freedom

FYI - if purchasing multiple GC's under multiple accounts, sign out of the multiple amazon local accounts prior to signing into your amazon account and redeeming your GC. This trick should allow you to redeem multiple GC's to the same account though its not recommended that you take advantage of the system as you might get caught. You have been warned.

I have been unlocked... so how do I do with my 10 codes? They didn't cancel the codes or say anything about them. Am I going to open a new account then stack them?

Thanks!

You should make another account, get 1 month free prime, use all the codes on it, order something expensive, have it sent to your work address, and close that account! BAM! Profit!

You obviously weren't here for the near-identical Living Social deal last year. Go read the CNN link in the OP.

Guess i was wrong, i got on on one of the GC and was able to use it on anything on amazon. I was speculating that it would have been good on only items sold by seller amazon and not any other sellers on amazon. Good deal, would have been a greater deal if there wasn't a limit of only 1.

Well people's accounts were locked, unlocked, locked again, emails were sent etc. So I would say "close call" at the very least. The threat was there, but amazon did not follow through.

like someone said though, the accounts might have only been locked because of the unusual activity with redeeming gift cards. who knows for sure, just glad to see everyone is fine Smilie

Hello,

A careful review of your account indicates that you've possibly purchased multiple Amazon.com Gift Cards on AmazonLocal on Mar 20. That deal permitted you to purchase a $10 Amazon.com Gift Card for $5, but the terms made it clear that there was a limit of one Amazon.com Gift Card per customer.

Through the normal course of business, the occasional problem is inevitable. However, you seem to have had an unusually high rate of problems in your account history. When unusual account activity like this comes to our attention, we'll evaluate each account on a case-by-case basis to determine if additional action or closing the account is necessary. We'd prefer to work with you because we do value your business.

Continued failure to comply with our policies may result in the removal of both your Amazon.com buying and selling privileges.

We appreciate your cooperation and understanding.

are they going to close my account or not? maybe not since too many people are doing this. they will not close so many account at one time? right?
..that's pretty cut and dry Kiev. They were specifically warning people for abusing the deal. But at the end they backtracked. This could have been a disaster like in 2008, but Amazon decided to warn users this time.

Doing the same again like for example with that user, would probably result in an account banning next time.

There is a code sent to your email account and the gift card code need to be redeemed to your amazon account. I believe all the links are in the email. If you have not received the email, you would need to contact amazon since your cc has been charged.

yeah that is a warning, but that doesn't mean for sure those people that had their accounts locked for a small time, had so because of the warning. we just don't know, especially since others like me who bought many didn't get email or account lock. it is just all assumptions
