Porsche 911 reviews?
I'm looking to get a Porsche 911 Carrera S and get rid of my current M3. Any SD'ers on here have one and can comment on reliability? Parts & repair pricing, etc? I'm coming from having had E36, E46, and E92 M3's which aren't horrible, but also aren't the poster child's for reliability compared to the honda/acuras and toyota/lexus that I had before. I don't expect Japanese reliability, but just don't want something worse than the bmw's.
Anyone on SD own a 911 and can comment on typical repairs, costs, trouble spots, etc? I'm kind of wary of buying a used one as sports cars can be well abused. But depending on the deal, owner history & how it checks out on a pre-purchase inspection, would consider a 2003+ (996), or 2005+ (997)... especially if I can get an extended warranty.
I've already looked at Consumer Reports and it is "recommended". Also msn auto's, the car mags long term road tests, edmunds.com, etc. But just wanted more input. especially from the SD'er perspective.
