I want the game. I will pay $60 to own the game when it's released. For another $40 I think there is enough material being offered to jump into the CE. This is coming from someone who never buys CE editions.

Probably helps a little that I'm sometime WoW player as well.

Mostly its D2 and D2LOD on a runestone USB stick (4GB) with a Diablo Skull base. There is collectable artwork/making of DVDs and some ingame items for WOW/SC2. For WOW its a pet shaman and SC2 more portraits.

Overall, not worth $40 to me, but I'm not a die hard Diablo fan. I also seem to remember SC2CE being pretty cheap 6-8 months after release, so if you dont plan on buying right away you might want to wait.

From what I've been reading around, you can't sell the stuff for WoW and sc2 as they are linked to your bnet account. You can sell the rest of the stuff, but probably not for very much.

I was very much looking forward to this (and considered collectors edition) prior to trying the beta. Not a fan of removing so much of the min-maxing that was such a major part of D2. Haven't gotten a chance to playing the beta lately...have they added some of that back?

My money in for the Diablo III - Collector Edition. Who know when they will ever make the next Diablo game if there is even gone be a next one...

The collector edition looks pretty cool. I might have to pick it up when it goes on sale.

With standard edition you're kinda a sucker but with collector's edition you're a huge sucker. It's a pretty distinctive difference really.

Collectors Edition's are polite ways of saying 'money sink' or 'cash grab'. Any game these days that bothers with a CE is already printing and producing far more than are probably in demand. So the actual 'collectableness' of most of these CE editions is closer to nil. These are mainly for collector fetishists and hard core fans.

Like you said, there's a good chance you can pick the CE up down the road for a fraction of what it will cost upon release. Then again, maybe not.

in another word - CE may not worth it if you have no life, no friend and the purpose of buying a game is to pwn noobs.

CE may worth it if you have interest outside of the game - say, art, friends to show off to, books to use the book divider, kids to whom you plan to show off your 'gaming legacy' to.
