Looking for a Washer in North Texas
Looking to spend about $750 max for a washer, either front or top loading, don't need the base either. Best deal I found so far was a Samsung WF231ANW for $720. Would like to have one with the steam cycle as I like to wash my hockey equipment in it. =D Anyone know of any awesome deals going on right now? Thanks in advance. I am bored at work so I looked on the 4 major retailers websites (HD, Lowe's, Sears, & BB) and the best value for a lower price with steam was the Samsung 331 for $800 IMO. I recommend waiting for new sales to start on Sunday since no specific sales on models jump out at me. PM me and I will re-evaluate again with the new sales prices.

I think that's what I may do unless I see a good open box special somewhere. I also checked Frys but didn't see anything promising. |

Use this model # MVWC6ESWW1 MAYTAG CENTENNIAL
Lowes a few month ago had still a ton of these in stock. They don't manufacture this model anymore due to Energy Star mandates. But is a GREAT top loader. Simple in design and pretty much is bulletproof. They should run new around $350 ish. I don't know the sku# for Lowes... Maybe someone can pull it up. Doesn't require HE detergent but is recommended. Unlike most washers now you can't add more laundry after the cycle starts, unless you unlock the lid. This one if you have a really dirty load. You can open the lid a few times and it will fill to the top like the old fashion washer that did a better job. The reason this happens is because everytime you raise the lid it automatically adds more water to the load. Reason is because it anticipates the reason you opened the lid is because you added more laundry. The size if I recall correctly is a 4.1 or a 4.2. It does have the agitator in the center unlike most today don't. That can be good and bad depends on your preference but it does work better on getting things clean. I recommend if you can find this new go for it. Last I seen most stores didn't advertise it in their stores. Reason I know is because I got a dud and needed a simple repair and ended that A&E the repair company when it was under warrenty farked it up rather than fixing it corrently. So they eneded up replacing it with a brand new washer. I was suprised to find the had like 35 more lol still in stock at the store. Idk why they had so many and why they didn't have one on the floor nor show it on their website. This was about 4 months ago but I'm pretty sure if they aren't advertising them that they still have a few somewhere here in DFW. Hell they might be even on clearance now! The store that had that many was Lake Worth Lowes store. |

Most these days cost around 800+ for the same size. They don't even make that size anymore from what I've found. The model they replaced it with is a 3.6 size and doesn't have and agitator. From what I hear people hate it for regular loads not washer as well. But love it for large loads like bedding. This still has a regular basic timer without most of the electronics or buttons that tend to only last a few years before breaking on the panel or cracking. (Because they are momentary switches, like a microwave but they actually press in type and tend to crack where the plastic flexes. Before they were used on washer they were used a ton on dishwashers, anyone that has a dishwasher with those type of buttons see the cracking soon after the third or second year.)
The price point for the size is great. Only thing is when it changes cycles it makes a lot of noises. Reason is because its a direct drive transmission. That's really the only thing negative. |

Check with Lowes to see if they have any scratch and dent units with the steam feature, as they will be marked down by quite a bit. You could also use a Lowes moving coupon to get 10% off. Go to the Lowes website to request a moving coupon. They'll send it via email but it usually takes 2 or 3 days to arrive and the expiration date will be 30 days out so make sure you're ready to buy before you request a coupon. Happiness and depression are both feelings, just like joy and anger. It's not feelings that give us problems. It's what we do with them that makes the difference.
