Like $50 cheaper than anywhere else......

nice price for a quality unit. at $199 for lenovo quality it is hot deal

even though it is "regular dual core" it still beat the living snot out of those dual core atoms and amd E-350 machines. (but of course at higher power draw)

Not a bad deal and basically the same deal that was available about a week or two ago... just that this time, no coupon needed. Much better deal if someone has rewards to cash in, or has an OfficeMax/Depot coupon that their stores (ymmv) accept.

One question I have though, which I got wondering about due to the post by geniv. I notice Lenovo gets a lot of attention in this forum overall, and statements like 'for lenovo quality it is a hot deal' got me wondering... why would lenovo be considered necessarily better than anyone else regarding quality, for desktops?

They get a lot of attention due to people mixing up the fact they purchased the naming rights to thinkpads some time ago, from IBM. But that's all it was, they aren't IBM. Yet I have seen people, salespeople in stores, etc. say, they are 'IBM' now.

And for desktops, why would their quality be better than HP, Dell, or anyone else? They all get their parts from China as it is. In Lenovo's case, the company itself is from China.

I'm not saying a Lenovo desktop is a bad brand, nor Lenovo is terrible... just wondering why some people consider them high quality to begin with.

from my personal experience, STAY AWAY from lenovo ideapad laptops! I do believe genuine thinkpad has better quality.

Nothing is perfect, but what I didn't like about them is that they don't acknowledge any bugs/design flaws, and very slow or no response time to come out with patches to fix problems. It feels like you purchased the product, good luck now, just hope it had perfect design, but they never had perfect design in the first place.

Now, I may still purchase a lenovo desktop, due to the fact that desktop is not as sophisticated like laptop, and it's easier to upgrade/fix. Just my 2 cents.

i've had used many lenovo's (many of them refurbs or new from outlet) and never had a problem. great laptops.

just keep in mind that it's 32-bit w7 so you can only add 1 gb of RAM with the installed OS

I've head that their laptops are still considered decent, or at least their thinkpad line is. Again, wondering where the good reputation as far as desktops comes from. Is it real, or just a carry-over from their thinkpad line, where people assume the entire line-up is good?

As for the 32-bit thing, I'll mention what I did on the same model several weeks ago. You should be able to do a re-install using the same license for 64-bit. Just use an iso or discs, re-install as 64-bit and use code from the side of the machine. Another option is to just go with one of the Linux flavors, 64-bit.

Anybody concerned about the memory, remember that many Staples stores have that 2GB DDR3 desktop memory for $4.50. (SKU 860995)
