I got the UN55D7000' it's a 55" TV just so we're clear. I realize it's a lot more now. But I had been watching the prices at Searsoutlet, Amazon Warehouse, and local stores' open box/clearance sections for the better part of 3 months waiting for a deal. So when I saw it for $1342 + 5% cash back on Amazon it was a no-brainer (they actually had about 8 of them for that price, in various conditions). For me it's the only way to buy a TV.

I'm not trying to dump on this deal. Like I said, for a NIB item, this seems like a decent deal. I am just trying enlighten anyone not aware of the other options. And some people will NEVER buy anything that's openbox/refurb/etc, so I realize these options are definitely not for them. It's just that I didn't know about the huge discounts possible on model year clearance TVs until someone made a post last year about Searsoutlet.com. So I'm just sharing some good-will. If the risk of openbox/refurb isn't for you, so be it. For me it's a no-brainer (just make sure you can return it if it sucks and/or that you have manufacturer's warranty - then there's basically zero risk). The only catch is that it definitely takes a little bit of work to find the deal you want. Usually deals like I'm talking about (deep discounts on high ticket items) are very short in supply. So it's something you have to do your homework on, research exactly what options will work for you, and know exactly what your "buy-it-now" price is for each option. Then you just have to be patient, search for a deal yourself, then once you find it, you have to jump on quick. Anyway, that's my 2c. Hope it helps someone.
