Dell 14R screen problem

I bought a Dell 14R i3 laptop about a week and a half ago from Staples. I have until tomorrow to return it. I am trying to find out if the problem I am having has an easy fix, or if I should return and try another one. My screen spontaneously just flickers to black momentarily and then goes right back to the screen I was on. It is almost as if it is trying to go to screen saver or something like that. It's like a hiccup.

Has anyone else had this problem with this or another Dell laptop? Should I return, or is there something I can check in one of the settings? I have increased the time before it goes to screen saver, sleeps, etc.

Try doing a factory restore and see if its still doing that... If it is it sound like an issue - I would say exchange it

I have seen this problem on a desktop. Contact Dell for tech support. I wish I had.

If I go through Dell I will have to send it off to them. If it is doing this within two weeks of purchase I am guessing it is no good. I will try resetting it to factory settings (or try to anyways....I removed some programs when I got it).

i had this problem on a 17" laptop from dell on vista. annoying. switched to win7 but havent used it much to know if it was gone.
mine was at log on, mostly if not all times.
i get it now at times on my non dell desktop but its always related to a nvidia driver. i installed a older driver just to avoid it

Thanks so much...that seems to have done the trick! I am a little skittish to keep it since it was doing it before, but I also don't want to go through the hassle of dealing with the morons at Staples to exchange it. (They already tried to sell me an extended warranty on a new laptop when I called about exchanging it...LOL!). Do you know why doing a factory restore would fix it? (sorry if that's a stupid question).
