It appears AutoNation Direct is selling 29 new 2012 cars in 9 days at 50% off the MSRP, you have to pay cash for it, no financing, its first come first serve once the ad goes live! Only thing that scares me is the line

"Buyer must agree to sign a talent release to be used for public relations purposes." - Not sure what that means..

There are so many variables of "today" vs "yesterday" that you have no idea if what you are saying is true.

To be honest, I've been in on this deal since the start. EVERY SINGLE TIME I've refreshed to find a live auction, ITS ALREADY GONE. That includes the one where the OP won and all the others here won.

You have no idea if it's fair or not BECAUSE YOU HAVENT BEEN HERE have you??

Just because it says 1 view does not mean someone is hacking. Maybe the first day we had a few 100 people competing, and for the first few auctions people were not trained on what they had to do, so for 30 or so seconds they were farking around not understanding what to click.

By now, almost a WEEK later, people know to use their iphones, staying signed into paypal.

You also have to take into consideration that there are 1000's of views on this thread, and MANY people WILL NEVER post here who are trying to get the cars.

You people who think that you're getting cheated have SMALL minds. YOU NEED TO THINK BIGGER!

and lastly

Knowing the game is how you win. Someone knowing it better than you doesn't mean that YOU are beating cheated. It means that you need to figure out how to play the game better.
Stop controlling the conversation. We know how you feel, trust me.

While some of this is true, you use the terms "hacking" and "cheating" but those words don't have much meaning in this context. Writing a script is just the evolution of the game, but some might consider it cheating. I don't think anyone hacks into the ebay servers but its not outrageous for the person listing the item to text his boy the item number and give him a two minute edge. Especially given that ebay is financing the promotion... but perhaps i need to "think bigger"

I have been here since Saturday. With each day, the chances of winning become more and more slim. If you took the time to analyze the obvious, you would realize that it is you with the SMALL mind and must think bigger.

Use your common sense and combine that with the glaringly obvious. The truth reveals itself. In my opinion, the scripter has done too well of a job and has therefore made himself.

Edit: I could give you a thousand iphones and a thousand chances and more than likely you would never win now. If you don't trust me, let's see how many "winners" come out and express their joy on these boards after today.

From here on out, you are not even playing the same game as them. You are just a bystander.

Edit 2: The first two days, anybody had a chance. Then the iPhone / paypal trick became known and it became an SDers game. The iphone trick combined with a little luck and hard work could get you a win. Now, no amount of luck or hard work is going to get you that car.
So you think that the fact that MORE people are participating in the "game" has nothing to do with making it harder to win??

Just you wait till a slickdealer wins tonight or tomorrow. I hope you'll upload a video of you eating your hat.

Someone help this guy see the picture. I've said all I need to say. This entire thread bores me now.

Congrats to winners. Especially OP. It was fun, frustrating and a huge waste of time for me. I do not regret it.

FWIW it depends on what you consider unfair. Most people here seem to consider the scripts and whatever else people might be using to snag the car in 1 second to be unfair. Someone else might hear about an auto-refresh extension they didn't know existed and think the people using those are "cheating".

Then on other deals you hear about a few guys on "deal sites" who buy as many items as they can get their hands on to resell during a great sale, clearing out the inventory in a minute, and leaving "normal" consumers in the dust.

I'm just saying, what is "fair" is very subjective.

AND SOME PEOPLE don't take into consideration that the INTERNET doesn't refresh the same across the whole united states EVERY SINGLE TIME.

Gosh. It's a game of luck and CHANCE here.

- Chance that YOUR specific ebay server got the command that the car was posted before someone else's ebay server.

- Chance that your connection after pressing BUY on ebay and the transition to paypal went 100% correct and NOT ONE PACKET being routed through 30 or so states got lost.

There are 1000's of variables which would cause it to refresh for me FIRST and allow me to beat you to the deal.

With the increase of contestants - it decreases your chances of winning, ESPECIALLY during these kinds of deals.

To sit here and blame it on a scripter is BS.

Again, you have no idea what it means if an auction was viewed ONCE. Just look at how cowboom operates. You have multiple people hitting their servers at the same time getting 10 different offerings.

I am participating in this "click and get a car competition" since yesterday. I wasted around 5-6 hours yesterday. I was close to get Ford Fusion yesterday. But today it was terrible. I clicked for 2 hours in afternoon EST or so and got a flash of Malibu listing. Thats it. It was just a flash... before I could try, the listing was end. Enough of gamble..good luck guys if you have lot of time

J3ff , you definitely make valid points, but the script idea sounds pretty cool....

so, can someone make a program where you enter the seller name, he posts a buy it now, and the program will automatically buy it ?

The thing is, there's no real way to script this and make it easier.

It's the typical "use the mobile site because it hits mobile sites first" and "stay logged into paypal through the iphone"

That's IT. No other trick needed.

You simply have 1000's of lurkers now. This thread has been the top thread in hot deals and deal discussion allllllllllll week. The VETTE is coming up and that's what happens.
