Friend just did the challenge at Santa Clara store and his challenge was to translate a picture. He was about to win, but the employee had to use two phones to win because his first phone couldn't do it so he used his second backup phone.. He ended up getting a $25 gift card for 'losing.' Has this happened to anyone also?

I am thinking if I should go back to trade for a titan 2.

I have been going to the MS store 3 days in a row and keep asking the same question to see if my phone is ready or not and they keep saying the same thing- wait for your email. Today around 7pm there was a line to pickup the phones but it wasnt me

Do you have proof you got the Titan 2? It's not even even out yet so I'm a bit confused.

If you'd waited for your email before picking up, you probably would have gotten a Titan II. But, since you flipped out and made a scene and demanded an early pickup, whoever it was that had their phone picked up by you and got bumped back as a result, will probably get the Titan II that you would have gotten.

That's the whole karma thing people were telling you about earlier.

Yeah, do it. And ensure you make a *bigger* scene than last time to ensure that the Microsoft Store employees have to call the cops. That way you'll get what you truly deserve.

You need to be crafty, thin skin and have the right timing to pull this off.

They will have to exchange my phone if it has manufacturing defect ;-). I knew I bought the insurance for a reason.

The more this goes on the more I see how poorly planned this whole event was. We are having this much trouble getting our phones and this is only for the first week of the challenge participants? The store employees seem to be poorly trained with the whole situation also. It seems like we can't get one straight answer from a store, each employee "believes" something different. Don't they have store meetings where they learn what to tell the customers all the same message? You figure with how much they stole design-wise for their stores from Apple the would try to match it in customer service. I mean I have never had a rude or bad encounter at one of their stores but one voice to the customer is an important factor of any successful business.

Have you even used the phone you got? I have been using my new Windows phone and love it! Please try the product before you make these idiotic comments.

I bought a Palm Pixi Pro on ebay after the fact.
Do I have to activate the Palm Pixi Pro to turn it in? Do I have to activate the phone they give me? I requested a Titan despite it not being compatible with my service.

I went to Oakbrook today and got a $500 gift card instead of waiting longer to get my phone. Did anyone else get that option?

I think it's a dumb decision on Microsoft's part. The goal of the promotion is to get Windows Phones into users hands, not gift cards that an be used for anything.

Before you start insulting people here, maybe you should get grammar lessons. I think it's more likely you just described yourself.



A similar situation happened to me. They do not get to invalidate your first win just because they feel like it. The next day I called and asked for the manager. I didn't even bother telling her the issue, I just asked for a phone number and email of someone at corporate. That always scares the heck out of employees. So she asked what the problem was and if she could help me. I told her my story, and she asked me to give her 10 minutes to verify my story with the employee that did the challenge with me. She called me back 10 minutes later and said that she would honor my win and that I could pickup the laptop immediately. The End . Good luck with your friend.

Your confusion is understandable. But, while you were sleeping we already established that legitimate people are getting Titan II at some some stores (I think in the CA area so far). We are passed the point of asking for proof and at this point we are looking for people to chime in and let us know when they get one.

We all know the real rules: "turn in a real smartphone with service from a real carrier(sprint, Verizon, etc.). We aren't supposed to be able to turn in non-smartphones or prepaid phones.

What you are referring to and complaining about is employees who are letting some of us bend the rules. That's not bad, that's good. That's how some of us are making this extra slick.




I'm not who you were responding to and I agree with you. I don't have my phone yet, but I played with the Windows Phones in store when I did the challengeandI was surprised at how awesome they were. Microsoft's promotion has worked on me. They got me to pickup one of their phones and see how great they are.




I would think not. If they question you about it just tell them that it was activated when you took the challenge, but had service temporarily switched off because they told you to come in and pick up your phone. You wouldn't want to give them an activated phone. That's what I'm going to say, and it's true.

I agree completely. But I think that was probably a unique situation and one we won't be able to replicate. That guy got the confirmation email to pickup his phone and then they weren't holding it for him. They won't offer everyone a $500 gift card.

Just got my Titan yesterday from Tysons, you don't have to get pick up email, they do have your information there, just go with your ID.
