Costco's website was recently selling the Vitamix 5200 64oz , with an extra dry container, and an extra wet container, as well as some bonuses, like a fancy knife that I googled; apparently it was about $100 on Amazon just for that knife. This whole package was $650, and was imo a really nice price if you wanted everything in the package(I did)
Well, I believe as of lastnight, Costcos website no longer has that package, and is now only selling the 5200 "Super Package" 64oz, with a 32oz dry container for $499. Considering the dry container sells for $145 on the vitamix website, I think this is a better deal than this topics "reconditioned" one. I'd never purchase anything like this from any place other than Costco! If you can't afford to walk into Costco and buy their standard model for $380 (64oz container, nothing special) then you should buy it from their website. You can use BillMeLater if that helps you. I'm planning on waiting a week to see if Costco gets any better packages on their website with some nice bonuses. If not, I'm just gonna bite their current one. Costco basically gives you a lifetime warranty, and from what I've seen being demo'd in the store and from friends I know, these will change your life. Yes, I'd gladly pay $400 - 600 for a blender if it meant I didnt have to sit down and chew on veggies for 2 hours a day. Having a sensitive tongue, lots of veggies give me bad gag reflex and I almost vomit. You can hide 10 - 15 servings of these in a super liquid smoothie(or soup) on the Vitamix, chug it down in a couple minutes, and not worry about fruits/veggies the rest of the day. Worth every penny to me. Some people may like sitting down for a duration of the day to get their daily suggested veggie intake, though. Regular blenders break down pretty fast making green smoothies, but most of them will indeed work; it just takes 20x longer, and you'll have to chew your smoothie. |

For only $120 more you can get a brand new one with an 8 year warranty and second pitcher of your choice ($99 value right there). I got that deal last weekend at my local Home & Garden Show. Find one in your area and see if Vita mix is there. Or send me the cash and I'll go pick one up for you but you'll have to pay for shipping.

Vitamix vs Blendtec
I bought the Blendtec when it was being demo'ed at Costco. There were several things I didn't like about it. The instructions say to fill it no more than 3/4, you need to add liquid, the square jar is hard to clean, the edges along the bottom are sharp (husband cut himself), you often have to stop and bang the side to get it to blend, and it's so noisy. The Blendtec salespeople are very good but it doesn't come close to the quality of Vitamix. After two months I returned it and decided reluctantly to try the Vitamix. It has changed our lives. We're having green smoothies every morning for breakfast which are so good I've lost four pounds without even trying. It's easy to clean, grinds up everything we give it, is much quieter than the Blendtec. We've only had it for about a month. To answer the question, "does it juice?" it pulvarizes. Much healthier than a juicer because the whole fruit or vegetable is still there-not just the juice. I'm generally not the healthiest eatter but this has made a huge difference. |

I just contacted Costco about this last week. My store does not carry Vitamix except during their demo days. The website only had a really expensive package deal that I didn't want.
Apparently some Costcos have it in stock as a normal item and some don't so just call your local store and ask. It should be around $395 with the standard warranty. Or if you have any Home Shows going on where you get it factory direct, you can get an even better deal as I posted up above. We've only had ours for a week and my wife is still experimenting with recipes but it sure does rock. It comes with a HUGE recipe book as well in a big binder. Tons of recipes. Nevermind - http://vitamix.ahoy.com/recipe/recipe.cgi/0/136/ never even heard of that site before. Will have to check it out ![]() I initially was pissed when my wife dropped $400 on the blender but it makes the best smoothies, margaritas, soups, etc.. Everything is so damn smooth. Haven't tried ice cream yet but I will now
