I have the Premier and love it. Customer service is great and TY points can get you plenty of things. Sometimes the reps will give you bonus points to keep from closing the account if you are close to the 1st charge of your annual fee.

I did however apply for this card just to get the 50k. I already got the offer from applying last year for the premier.

I signed up for the continental card with the 50k miles around a year ago and cancelled it around december.

I just activated this card and the rep verified my 50k miles bonus after first purchase.

its the same exact card just now united branded since the merger.

Man. Just activated my card and the rep said I was only signed up for a 25K bonus or some crap. I explained the deal and she asked for a promotion code or email or something to verify. I was legitimately nowhere near a computer so she said she would open a case with their "marketing department" to look into it. WTF?

You can buy for anyone. I am in Seattle, and bought a ticket for my friend in IN who is going to FL with me. The only annoying thing is you don't get a copy of the tickets that they are emailed sent to your account too.

Not dead. Read the wiki make sure you sign on to the right United account. I just got an email on this too a day ago days after I applied and got appeoved.

My wife and I just got our cards today activated and verified that we would get the 50,000 bonus points after first purchase. Interesting thing I got approved instantly and my wife got the reviewing your application message and she got a much higher credit limit then i did.

i got this. if my sister applies, can we combine to one account? if no, can she book air ticket for me in my name and i still get the free checked bag or the lounge passes?

cant combine accounts.
she can book airfare with her account for you or anyone else.
dont expect any free checked bags though. as the mailing material states only when you purchase a ticket with your card is when you get a free checked bag.
otherwise you'd have to fly first class for free checked bag. (or international travel gives you first bag free)

The lounge passes get mailed 8-10weeks after your first use of the card. This is stated in the terms.

just inflate your income on the app and u shouldnt have a problem.

a lot depends on your income and current credit limit of all your cards combined.

I had recently cancelled a chase freedom. had 2 other chase cards.
also had cancelled the continental card a few months ago. and got approved with 790ish rating.
and probably have around 6 cards right now too. (just getting around to canceling some other ones)

Wouldn't applying and canceling many credit cards in a short period of time hurt your credit score?
