Was going to cancel Costco membership today because we live to far from one now. Have an AMEX card through them as well that we use for most purchases and figured it meant losing that too. But are there cards with better rewards? I like that it's cash, not points or miles.

I've heard you can convert the card to a different kind of AMEX. Not sure I even need the AMEX card, but don't want to lose the credit history, etc. necessarily.

Anyone have experience with this? Opinions? If I don't ever shop in-store at Costco, is there enough online for the membership to be worth it? Haven't really used their online.

I don't have experience with these exact circumstances, but if you can covert the Amex I would suggest changing it to the Blue Cash Everyday card (no annual fee)

Hm... just got through to CS at AMEX and I guess they do NOT have flexibility to convert the card anymore. They said they keep my credit history so I wouldn't lose my good record but I do have to close the Costco AMEX and re-apply for Blue Cash Everyday.
