Question in selling my Verizon grandfathered plan

I think your grossly over estimating what you can sell the line for. People are giving the line away on Craig's list - so they can get out of their contract and not pay termination fees. I just picked up two lines for FREE - both unlimited data and one of them came with a Droid X in great condition. On eBay these lines go for around $50

Regarding your situation. You are in a better position than someone who is currently in contract - because the new buyer will be able to get a new phone at a discounted rate when they take over the line. That way they have a choice of phones. Also, if you sell just the phone, everything can be done over the phone - you wouldn't have to ship them a phone etc.

IF I was still in the market for another unlimited data line (I have 4 now) your bare line would be more desirable to me without the phone

I should have added - If you decide to sell the line without the phone - I would make sure that you let the new buyer know that they should be able to immediately upgrade to a new phone at a discounted rate

Amazon has the latest Samsung Galaxy Nexus for $239 when you sign a new 2 year contract. That phone currently sells for around $500 - so there is definitely a good deal with the upgrade

For example, the one phone I took over - I am eligible for a new upgrade in Sept. ( I can go 6 months with an older phone until then because I am not paying $500 for a new one) If you have a prospective buyer, you could also do a three way call with a Verizon Rep - so they could confirm your unlimited data line and the fact your out of contract prior to the transaction

Unlimitied is great, put the 4G sim into a a new ipad and you have unlimited data on the thing.

Ok i sold the line for $600. easiest money ive ever made! The only problem is i sold the line sooner than expected and now do not have a phone... any one have suggestions on what i should do? I used to have verizon so should i flash my phone to work on pageplus for now? or buy a new phone and go tmobile prepaid? I'm either waiting for the Galaxy S3 or Note 2. So they are probably 1-3 months away.

You shouldn't have to "flash" it to use it on PP. If it was on Verizon, it will work on PP. They have plans as low as $12/mo. with no contract, so I would look into that.

yes I can see that. However the data plans on PP are lacking. I set my gf up on straighttalk and its been great.

SGSIII International is probably 1-3 months away. The US Variants, probably late summer or early fall.

Look into the One X. Although the US variants are dual cores, not quads due to LTE.

this is the way to go. checking craigslist every day for grandfathered account without luck. $300 is just too steep.

What if buyer just wants a min voice/txt account. will they lose unlimited? or you have to buy whatever plan the previous owner had?
