Yeah, I wear slim fit (not skinny) and this would fit in my pockets no problem. I don't think portability is an issue. Just holding it up to your ear and whether or not it is comfortable.

I am using another version of the Note (bought from Amazon) and yes, it works fine. Keep in mind though that AT&T can find out you have a "smartphone" and MAY force you to buy their smartphone data plan, which is $30.

However, I am switching to Straight Talk since it's much cheaper compared to AT&T - $45 / month for unlimited text and data.

No, I don't think AT&T has right to force you buy data plan if your smart phone is not from the contract. I am using iPhone 3GS which was bought from craiglist with one of the AT&T line. AT&T never asked me to add data plan.

Yes they can... and this is why: MediaNet is advertised in AT&T website as "Data for non-smartphone" for $15. Google XDA-Dev or other Android hacking website, you'll hear stories..

Even thought MediaNet works in Smartphone, if they find out you are using it for a Smartphone, they may force you to upgrade to the data plan for Smartphone ($30 / month).

This is why AT&T asked for your device IMEI number: if that IMEI shows up in AT&T database as smartphone, you'll have error in your ordering process.

Try this: go to an AT&T store, try to buy just a SIM card (yes you can) and ask for MediaNet. When they ask for the IMEI number (required for purchase), show them your Note and they WILL decline the MediaNet and tell you to buy the Smartphone data plan.

It's in the contract terms, but they never enforced. My friend has multiply smart phones with his family plan. He on purchase one data plan for himself. Somehow, he always upgrade to the latest smart phone and did some switch over(data plan) to his phone. So, he always has one phone with the data plan. Other smart phones are used by his wife and daughter, have no data plan associated with.

he probably has smartphone exclusion on his lines.

the smartphone data plan requirement is ENFORCED. just google all about the txt msg ppl recieve.
