After reviewing many of the online defensive driving courses I found this one to be both educational and entertaining. Plus it was really easy Smilie

NO TESTS - NO PROCTORS - NO GARBAGE FEES!

• Take up to 30 DAYS to complete at your own pace in as little as 5 MINUTE INCREMENTS
• 24/7 UNLIMITED ACCESS
• FREE SAME-DAY PROCESSING
• FREE CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION FOR YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY
• FREE E-FILING WITH THE NY DMV

it will save you roughly 10% on your car insurance and up to 4 points on your license. i did last week. there are a few questions at the end of each chapter, but even if you get them wrong you pass. i think it was a total of 360 minutes, you can't move onto the next chapter until the timer has finished, but its really easy to do while watching tv or down time at work.

Best part is its all on the computer, no need to go anywhere anymore.

www.MyImprovNewYork.com - this is the link for NY, you can also change the state if you need to.

http://www.myimprov.com/ - main site.

big news

Improv will be reducing the course price to $26.50 effective Monday October 9, 2012

I applied through my Geico website and it charged me $19.95 inclusive of all taxes for NJ.

That was a different company tough and Geico immediately applied the discount on completion.. no need to mail in certificate copy or anything else..

This is just for info if someone is really looking for a DDC
How to do it from Geico website? can you please provide me the link?

So is it for those who are looking for driver license? or for those who had tickets or points etc?

Can someone explain what is these 4 points reduction and when does it apply?

In NY state the discount is 10 percent off the collision and liability portions of your insurance, NOT the whole policy. The discount only applies if you have no points on your license and no chargeable accidents, otherwise the course removes points or removes the charge for a chargeable accident. If you do get a policy discount, it is good for three years.

Other states may or may not be similar.

This is not true. You get the discount in NY AND it removes points from your license.

Be sure to check if your insurance company will accept the course and offer a discount... Geico in North Carolina says "nope."

In NY if you have points on your license from speeding tickets or whatever, this can remove up to 4 points. It will not prevent suspension however. In addition you will get 10% off your liability and collision premiums. Again, this is specific to NY.

right. you need to call your insurance company if they accept this. some states required that you must have this certificate AND you are 50 or older.

The first thing to do is to call your insurance company. They will tell you the process, what the discount they offer after completion of the course, and a list of approved companies. I found a company (www.safe2drive.com) that does not offer testing for all states, but for my needs, an insurance discount, they were the cheapest. For NJ, they offer an insurance class for $19.95. They offer the same course for 'mature' drives in NJ that is $15.95. I took the $19.95 class and my father the $15.95 class. They also offer a class to have points removed from your drivers license for $25.95.

Other things to consider:
1. At least in NJ, all insured drives must take the class (my wife and I had to complete it).
2. The discount is different by state and company. For me, the 10% came of of collision and another component which actually ended up be about a 15% savings for us.
