despite the bad ratings its a fairly large, publicly traded company. its not like they're operating out of a garage. and ordering with a credit card protects you pretty easily if they don't send you what you order.

Ordered one at ~$135 with $14.50 shipping + tax. No brainer at this price. Worst case, it gets cancelled.
They are a reputable vendor but evidently don't have a robust inventory/ordering system when swamped with large quantities of orders at once as in their Touchpad fiasco. It's likely a price mistake and might get cancelled but well worth taking a chance. I picked up my first HP N40L When OnSale listed it at $99 ($116 shipped) on Amazon and have never regretted taking the risk. It's a great box. I have the first one set up as a combo NAS/HTPC running Windows Server 2008 R2 with a low profile XFX 1GB HD6450 playing uncompressed BluRay rips, NextPVR client for ATSC TV and any other video I can throw at it. Buy now or you may really regret not taking the chance... Rep to the OP for a great first post. FP material even with a chance the orders get cancelled. I went ahead and took the plunge. Have had my eye out for one of these for a while. Figured for that Price I could take a chance.
Though, to be safe, I ordered with a credit card so I can dispute the charge if there is any issue. No Protection with a Debit card you know...

edit: oops, I got mixed up, my order was from zones.com, but from the posts on this deal, looks like insight is even worse.... Last edited by loupgarou; 03-31-2012 at 01:19 PM.. |

I just called and spoke to Fred, he told me that the number in the site is not accurate and that he could take my order and when they become available he will contact me. So I left my number. Be aware they do not have it in stock as it seems by one of their reps.

So you can play 1080p MKVs with no hiccups? I'm assuming the sound is coming from the HDMI port of the video card, since the N40L doesn't have on board sound.
I ordered one despite all the complaints just in case we get lucky and it ships.

And their prices are often tied directly to their cost from Ingram/Synnex etc. So, if Ingram has a price mistake, Insight would pass it on. I ordered. Worse case they do not ship and refund the card. All the negatives on reseller rating have to do with stock issues, nearly all of them related to the HP Touchpad fiasco. |
