The competition between these companies in the graphics sector is just awesome and in the end promotes advancement and benefits us the consumers, enthusiasts, gamers etc. I wish the same could be said in the CPU realm. AMD is just getting squashed and Intels pimp hand is too strong. I wish we had more competition there but we don't

For $330, I would spend the extra money and get one of the OC 7870s with a better cooler. AMD's latest cards can OC like a beast and still remain cool and quiet. The yet to be released HIS 7870 IceQ Turbo was overclocked well above the stock reference card and was nearly as fast as the 7950 (and even beat it at some points), but still remain quiet and cool (60C). I would recommend waiting until the GTX670s come out to see how much further the GTX580 will drop.

The EVGA 480 GTX for $210 (with NO rebate!) IMO was a far better deal. The 580 is a monster card but the 480 still is as well and I love mine. The claims of heat/noise are ridiculously overhyped, my fan rarely goes above 80% and temps peak around 80C with stock cooler. As long as you take 5 min to set up a custom fan profile in EVGA precision the 480 gtx runs cool and quiet. I think it got a bad rap because the stock fan speed profile is pathetic, it barely ramps up in speed until you hit 80-90C which is why it seems to run so hot/loud.
