Remember the Cannoli shooting scene with the Statue of Liberty in the background? Or how Vito loses his grocery clerk job? Or the entire Cuba sequence?

Anyway, my point was that Part 3 is not even 50% of the filmmaking prowess of the first two in my book but people certainly do make it much worse than what it really is. Take off the "Godfather" and "Corleone" labels and people will think differently about the end product - I think it holds up in a Pepsi challenge.

Are you quoting from somewhere or are these your own interpretations? I would like to read more about this in order to get a chance to catch some of the stuff in the movies that I may have missed, although watching the BD will let me see whole a lot more than old DVD-Ripped copies, but still, it is always interesting to read about what else was in the movie, other than the movie itself..

It's long been known that Coppola meant for the Mafia to be symbolic of capitalism and the American Dream, reflecting both its strengths and flaws. These are just scenes that I thought of off the top of my head which are in that vein. I'm sure many others, much more literate than I am about such things, have written countless essays on this topic about these movies.

Essays, no thanks, if I liked reading, I would have read the book instead of watching the movie! Kidding aside, wouldn't what Puzo meant be more important than what Coppola meant?

I would still consider the whole movie, regardless of part, as "Family first". The way there is a very strong family implications, frodo, sonny, daughter, children where they come to play their toys, daddy in hospital, wife getting bombed, etc.. mostly "Family comes first, Family dies first". It's more than the "other family" rather "immediate family" throughout all 3 movies. Anyway, let's just watch it and enjoy the grainy goodness once BDs arrive.

Yeah I just got that this morning.... Going to email CS and see if they will ship it once it comes back in stock.
