“The Greatest Video Game Music”, performed by the highly acclaimed London Philharmonic Orchestra, that was recorded spring 2011, features classical orchestrations of the best-known video game themes including Mario Bros, Call of Duty, Zelda, Final Fantasy, Halo, World of Warcraft, the incredibly successful Angry Birds and many more.

X5MusicGroup.com offers downloads of The Greatest Video Game Music MP3 Album [x5musicgroup.com] for free. In retrospect, Amazon charges $4.99 and iTunes charges $5.99. If you have problems downloading the entire .zip archive, you can download each track separately. To download, right click and save each MP3 (or WAV) file to your hard drive.

To make this simpler, people using Chrome, can use this: https://chrome.google.com/webstor...akjapmkdjf
For other browsers, check this article out: http://www.tucows.com/article/1504

Note: The download full albums link does not seem to work. It redirects you to an xml filled with Access Denied information. Therefore, you have to download each track separately. To download, under the .mp3 or .wav column next to each track, right click on the file icon and click "Save Link as.."

By far, the best download manager is DownloadThemAll! [mozilla.org] (<- link opens only in firefox), an extension for Firefox [mozilla.org]. Once installed, just right click on the page and click on DownThemAll!. Then, at the bottom of the popup, you should see a fast filtering tab, expand that. Type in *.mp3 or *.wav, whichever interests you and make sure to check the Disable other filters checkbox. Leave everything as is except the Save Files in: field, which is obviously upto you. Then click on Start! and you should have all the music from the site. This extension for firefox is the only reason I still use Firefox! Have fun!

Update: No more free music! Frown All links now just show information about their respective albums

Thanks for this, but the first link goes to a single music file. The second is good for the classical music pack. Do you have the piano pack? Thanks again.

Doesn't make the other tracks mediocre because you have different tastes
It's not about taste. It's like making a greatest rock bands of all time without including the beatles, it loses it's credibility.

Bummed that I missed out.

But 128 posts, and not a single mention of OCRemix [ocremix.org]. What is wrong with you, internet?

Their Final Fantasy IV album called Echoes of Betrayal, Light of Redemption [ocremix.org] is incredible. I've listened to that more than any other album, ever. In any genre.
Another one that is awesome from there is the Chrono Symphonic [ocremix.org] set. It has quite a few good tracks too.
You have any other suggestions for some good music on there? I have tried to look through it a few times but havent ever found anything near as good as the two we mentioned.

As far as albums go, nothing comes close in my opinion. There are a few good tracks on the FF7 album, 25YEARLEGEND (the recent Legend of Zelda album), and Heroes vs. Villains, but I haven't listened to many of the others. Beyond that, they have thousands of singles. Can't help much there either, except I believe most of these songs work best if you are familiar with the original song. Also, I think the quality has really gone up in recent years, so it's more difficult to find gems among the older songs. A couple of my favorites are The Sky was Never a Limit (FF4) and The Rose General (FF9).

Yea I had tried to look through the site before and it reminded of a library, meaning if you knew what you were looking for then it was awesome but it was not very conducive to browsing. I did go ahead and DL about 15 of the OCremix albums last night though. I will check the 2 songs out that you mention. I think I heard the Rose General on youtube but I am not sure if it was the same version.

Thanks for the suggestions and reminding me about that site as pretty good source for free game music.
