Blade grinders BURN your beans and it is virtually impossible to get a consistent grind. Get a burr grinder.

Yes, it's 10 times more expensive than the Cuisinart blade grinder. Yes, it's abso-freaking-lutely worth it.

It's not bad (that's what I had before I upgraded to the Baratza) and it will still blow away the blade grinders for consistency and taste.

First of all, all of you who are saying you use an $87 grinder are laughed at by the rest of us who use $200 grinders AND those of us who roast our own beans every 3 days too.

Now, for the non elitist coffee drinker who wants something better than preground canned or bagged starbucks, this grinder will be a major step up.

Roast your own beans + Grind with legit grinder > pre-roasted + legit grinder > pre-roasted + $87 grinder > pre-roasted + $13 grinder > bagged or canned pre-ground coffee > instant

Whether an $87 grinder is some sort of exponential leap over a $13 grinder is a matter of subjectivity, but in my opinion, it definitely is not. Fresh ground beans with a simple cuisinart is however a major leap above pre ground bagged stuff.

I have a small grinder like this from Krups--I bought it, more than ten years ago, for grinding small quantities of nuts and chocolate

i have used these over the years (I work in a food lab), and these work really great and are a good deal at $13. The more expensive ones are overkill for a casual coffee drinker. Spend your money on better beans, not a better grinder.

I dunno. I think my Peets is simply amazing coffee, ground or not.

Keep coffee beans/grounds in the freezer when not using it.
