Speakers for <$25 that can be heard over a loud treadmill?
My wife and I use a treadmill which is pretty loud (most are, this one is average noise level). We like to watch TV or listen to music and podcasts while running, but our laptop speakers and these little Logitech S120 2.0 speakers for $10 from Amazon [amazon.com] don't quite do the trick. Can you recommend some speakers (prefer 2.0 but 2.1 is fine if a sub's necessary to be heard) that will be loud enough to be heard over the treadmill for mostly TV shows and podcasts? Preferably for <$25 ... |

I usually don't say this, but you're going to want a subwoofer. Because of the loud ambient noise, you're going to want it to drown out the sound of the treadmill and your running. Now, realize that the more you spend, the clearer the speakers will be at high volume. Most people (like with cars, that get new systems for example) like to show off how loud their new speakers go, but that's not what determines a good speaker. It's how little distortion it has at loud volumes, not that it can simply reach those. That seems to have been lost in translation when you go to a stereo store, and the tech there turns up the volume and says, "Look how good these are." So, you can get something like these:

Some other options: http://slickdeals.net/f/4145642-C...s-34-99-FS I know these next ones are nearly 3 times your budget, but part of slickdealing is buying smart, and as they say, the poor man buys twice. If you find that your bare-budget speakers are still not enough, you'll be spending this much, PLUS the $25 for cheap speakers, plus your time and effort buying multiple pairs, etc. Look at how well regarded these speakers are. http://slickdeals.net/f/4145298-L...PM-Staples |

One model I've been considering is the Cyber Acoustics CA-3602 at Amazon for $36 [amazon.com]. Similar to the Corsair mentioned by shnitz below.

Any other speaker (or cheap bluetooth wireless headphones that will stand up to sweat) suggestions? |

Because we're playing music from the laptop (which doesn't stand on the treadmill itself) we're looking for a set of speakers ... headphones won't reach.
Wireless headphones are a fair idea, but really I'm looking for a set of speakers so we can watch movies or listen to podcasts played through the laptop. |

I'm using a relatively cheap set of Sennheiser wireless headphones and I use them a lot and in poor conditions and they have been working for at least a couple of years and held up nicely. In the past I used cords that were constantly breaking. |
