Corsair Vengeance Mechanical Keyboards: K60 FPS $68 AR or K90 MMO $84 AR with free shipping w/ ShopRunner

this is a hell of a deal. I noticed it without getting to this thread. In for k60. Lowest price from amazon is $80. I got it for $68 after MIR. slurrrpppp. Time to throw my shitty g110.

I heard all the F keys and the one above arrow keys. Am I missing anything? Thanks! I used shoprunner so it's free return shipping. I'm still thinking between k60 and k90.. I won't use the G keys at all. So only the Led backlighting and full array of hand rest and more mechanical keys?

Just so everyone knows tp4tissue is a well known complainer on the corsair forums and other internet forums. Take his comments with a grain of salt. He has a deal alert setup with the keywords k60, k90 to whine about them whenever a post is made.

I'll respond to his points:

1. Minor issue with the board, you won't be able to fully customize the keycaps because not all the keys are mechanical.

The F keys and the insert/delete block are rubber dome. Who cares. If you are using the F keys in games you are "doing it wrong" and need to remap those keys in your games anyway.

2. MX-Red is terrible to type on, because the lack of tactile response, you'll make more mistakes and type slower.

Laughably untrue. I type about 90 WPM on both a rubber dome and my K60. I also type 90wpm on a cherry mx blue keyboard designed for typing. This is at 100% accuracy (5 minute tests)

3. The whole gaming switch is overhyped, it makes no difference in games.

I think he is referring to the windows button lock key. In which it does make a difference - but this is a common feature on many keyboards.

4. Oh and the k60 keycaps have shitty epoxy infills, which means it'll wear out within a few days of use.

Again bogus information. I've had my k60 for 4 months and none of my keys are worn out.

5. On the k90, the situation is better, but not much better, the anandtech review mentions that the paint on the backlit caps are very easily scratched off, and slightly poorly put on to begin with..

Can't comment on k90 as I don't own one. On the k60 the paint is only wearing off on my "c" key. I dont really care. I know how to type, I know where the keys are, I dont need the letters to be 100% painted on... I dont hunt and peck.

6. Highly recommend you guys buy something more solid.. like the quickfire, rosewill, wasd, das

Thats his opinion and he is welcome to it, but none of his points are really valid to dissuade you from buying the k60 or k90, either.

My personal opinion on this kb is that its OK. For $68 its worth it. You will get the rebate from corsair if history is any indication. I would way mech keyboards in general are more hype than anything, but switching to a mech keyboard did lower my frustration level a bit. I don't really find myself frustrated with a game having pushed a button and not having the action register. It still happens I suppose, just much less since the switch. Is that worth $68? To some, i suppose it is.

Just for clarification, mechanical means old school clickity clack IBM Ps/2 type keyboard, right?

just cuz a some forum agrees upon it, does not strip other individuals of their opinions and preferences. you both need to get off your high horses. most sensible people you ask will tell you to try the keyboard with the switch you're interested in before buying if possible.

as for the keys fading, you can get a free replacement from Corsair (they even provide shipping label) with a newer revision of the same keyboard with actual laser etched keys. (EDIT link: http://forum.corsair.com/v3/showt...p?t=103210)

one last thing to note, frys has the k90 for 89.99 AR for those who have a frys nearby and does not want to wait.

I returned the Corsair K60 because I had a few stuck key problems and it's an issue for some. I'm not sure about the status of the patch update that is supposed to fix it. I'd check out their forums.

I liked it for the period of time I used it but I really wish they made the ESC and DEL keys mechanical too.

You must not be a lefty. I live and die by the home/delete block. I'm glad he mentioned it.
