I have a Freedom card that I nabbed last year but was curious how this compares to the Sapphire/Sapphire Preferred. Can anyone that has/had both comment on either?

Sapphire Preferred is a great traveler card. No foreign transaction fees and 2% back on all dining and travel related spending. They also let you use have an extra 20% in points for travel spending through their rewards page and give you a 7% annual dividend on earned points. I use it only on dining / travel. Sapphire has a $500 cashback sign up bonus (after spending $5k/3months). The card is physically made of a titanium blend (confirmed when asking CS), no CC#'s on front, and kind of heavy in weight which some folks may find "cool". First year fees are waived but it does carry a fee on years after if you decide to hold on to it. Last edited by slickBreezie; 04-03-2012 at 09:13 AM.. |

AND it's a good card with the 5% cash back each quarter. These cash back deals on this card are pretty much a win all around. A few notes: - Not getting instant approval does NOT mean you're denied. I have decent credit and did not get instant approval, but I got the card with a pretty high credit limit. - It's never a good idea to screw with your credit while you're in the process of a major purchase - a house, or a car, or whatever. Don't apply for credit cards. Wait it out. - Don't cancel the card once you collect on the deal. Accounts that are held for short periods of time can hurt your credit score. Just hang on to the card - you don't even have to buy anything with it. |
