Should I post this mag offer Test: 1. If deal requires you to have to write cancel on an invoice or risk getting sent to collections - it is not free and shouldn't be posted so DO NOT POST 2. If deal is for a sponsored sub, you sign up on the form, you get the sub for free and never have to write cancel on nothing - POST THE OFFER
It is a pretty sad state in this country when you have to worry that what your read can land you in jail.
Well, I think it might be foolish NOT to consider the consequences of being on a Saudi Mailing list under "The New Normal" rules. However, I don't think the privacy intrusions are necessarily as bad from the Govt as they are from the private sector.
Even so, I do believe using Mr. Current Resident or Ms. Resident Actual is the best way to keep your name off auto-generated Databases which can be searched for free by you me, and anyone from your past, say maybe a disgruntled Ex BF if you're a woman, for example. It's just one Freebie Head's Up kinda thing if that stuff matters to you.
I learned the tip from a Life insurance Agent who suggested using this method after I was turned down for a policy becuase it was reported to the central database that they use that I was a subscriber (a free one) to Diabetes Forecast and that I had requested several free diabetes cookbooks from The Mayo Clinic & Joslin Diabetes Center. I had to prove I was NOT diabetic by getting a letter from my doctor and showing them that at that time, I heloped care for the elderly diabetic woman next door (who sadly has passed away).
My Life insurance agent told me that anything like that - magazines, health freebies from Pharma companies, Hospitals and so forth get aggregated together in one central health reporting agency kind of the same way the Publishing world uses the national "Slow Pay No Pay" list to deny you credit or membership to book clubs. It is what it is and it's been in place since before we were born with 9/11 having naught to do with it.
I simply suggested it as a way to keep your privacy, if that's something you need or want to do. It's merely an option - no need to get all freaked about it. Lotsa freebie users do this as their own little attempt to stay in control of who they CHOOSE to giev their info to as opposed to who it gets SOLD to.
The Insurance Agent says that Current Resident is a good way to order those free subs and not worry about having your name associated with them in case somebody, be it Big Brother, The Central Health Reporting Agency or the National Slow Pay No Pay people continues to grab names from such things.
Hope that clears things up - it's juts one way to retain a tiny bit of privacy if indeed you want that.
The world is trending away from privacy so maybe it doesn't matter anymore. I dunno.

Well, this is an oil company with major US offices[aramco.jobs], so I don't think there is much to worry about being on their mailing list. I am sure that many US politicians also receive this magazine.
