i have the 128gig vertex plus, but made sure to update the firmware and it's running fine still
I agree this wouldn't be bad as a cheap usb portable, but at that size and price it may be worth slightly slower speed to have a 1tb portable... tough :/

Works perfect as long as you backup.....easy to restore when it fails... no issues.

I'm assuming this would be USB 3.0 or SATA II, right? Because USB 2.0 is pretty slow and would definitely defeat the purpose of hooking up a super fast SSD.

This also brings up the point of how well USB 3.0 handles random reads/writes.

I would not want to use this to store backups of anything...

I get the idea of not using this as your primary drive, but based on the reviews, I wouldn't even want it as a secondary drive since I still have to waste time repopulating it when it seems to inevitably fail.

what are the chances SSDs will drop in price around the time this craps out? eh, 65 isn't a whole lot of chips for the SPEED I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE HAHAHA

for twice the price or less currently you can get more speed and a whole lot more sense of security...

this will work in a desktop, yes?

I guess this would work well as a cache drive.

If its important to you you should back it up.

In 4 one. If it bombs it bombs and I get an RMA'd drive, my main data is on a HDD anyway, this is what most SSD users do.

Man, too bad about the rebate limitation. A pair of these mirrored would be a decent setup for a desktop. What are the chances of two of them failing at the same time? With a three year warranty, that's a better setup than you could get with a hard drive.

Not sure the difference, if any, but the newegg drive is in a grey case & the other is black.

I have had the one from newegg for 3 months now with no issues. Maybe I'm running on borrowed time or i just got lucky, who knows. But really, if you are running an SSD as just an os drive, backing up onto one of your platter drives should be a no brainer.

Do you expect prices to substantially drop within the next seven days?
