Yeah, I thought it was without rebate at first and called to get an adjustment a couple days after I ordered this. They did give me an adjustment as per usual, but it only ended up being $5 less.
I received this card about an hour ago. I was nervous with all the driver issues people have been reporting, but it was 100% smooth. Went to safe mode. Deinstalled my current Onboard Display Driver. Ran Driver Sweeper to clean it out. Shutdown computer, installed card. It fit in two slots, but wasn't big for my case or mobo and sits nice next to my tuner card. I used the power cable that came with my modular PSU. Worked fine, but it also comes with a cheaper cable that has a 4-pin molex (only 3 pins present). I turned my computer on, but kept off the network. Installed the pre-downloaded driver suite from AMD, sans the Catalyst Control Center. Everything worked great with the drivers, so I installed the Catalyst Control Center. I'm not a gamer, so I didn't think I needed a video card, but I already dropped $1K into my first build and thought what the heck. The Intel HD 3000 Graphics is no slouch, but I think my computer is much faster now w/ this card. I already have a SSD I'm using for my OS, so it's lightening speed compared to my previous pre-made 9yr old Dell. I'm not sure if the graphics are significantly different, but it does look good and it's super fast. My computer is running significantly hotter, but it is a hot day. I'm usually sitting pretty at 24-26C, but now I'm at 32 for my mobo and 37C for my CPU. My WEI went from 6.4 with Intel HD 3000 to 7.7. I have a 7.7 for my lowest scores being my i5 2500K OC 4.5 and my new Video card. Last edited by swolfcg; 04-04-2012 at 03:55 PM.. |
