Lets not forget that you can go further between oil changes on most synthetics then you can on conventional motor oils. Or so I've read. That means less oil changes, and for someone like me that does my own, I can appreciate that.

I could kick myself for forgetting to send one in once on an Emachines PC I had purchased it was for $50 or more. I haven't forgotten to send in a rebate since.

[edit] I forgot to add that I do extended oil change intervals when I use synthetic.. The additive package in this oil is too weak for my tastes for longer intervals.

Reminds me of when I purchased my Sanyo plasma flat screen on clearance at Walmart last year. The guy in the store told me that the plasma TVs had to have the plasma recharged every year by a service tech and it was very expensive that's why they were not as popular as the LEDs. Geesh...I knew he was full of it, but I wonder how many people believed him when he told them that nonsense.
